Happy Mother's Day/ The Nursery

I can't believe that this time next year I will be celebrating Mother's Day with my own daughter. I am so excited to be a mother... I am just bursting with joy and anticipation!

So in honor of Mother's Day, this blog post is dedicated to all of the amazing mothers that are daily connoisseurs in their own right and especially to my own mother- who has, together with my father, provided the most amazing life for my sister and me.

Thank you Mom- I love you and appreciate you!

And now I want to share with you pictures of the baby nursery (nearly complete!)

This is a wide angle shot of the nursery- as you can see Gatsby is also anxiously anticipating the arrival of baby connoisseur...

Here are some close up shots...

The rocking chair...

My own American Girl doll, Samantha... so excited to pass her on to my daughter...

As you can see I am ready with The Complete Works of Winnie the Pooh and The Wind in the Willows...

The crib. We picked a 'nursery rhyme toile' for the bedding... I am in love with the print!

And finally, the changing table...

Happy Mother's Day to you... and thank you for all of the wonderful tips you have been giving me- keep them coming- I cherish every one!

xx

Beautiful. Of course, you might want a Moses basket for the months the baby will spend sleeping on the floor of your bedroom:).

You have decorated and furnished a beautiful nursery, you must be happy that all is in place. That little bundle of joy will be very fortunate to come home to such a wonderful home.
Happy Mother's Day to you!

Hello Jennifer, it all looks so peaceful and beautiful. I also have the complete works of those books. They make lovely gifts for mothers to be. Here is a little tip for you with Mr Gatsby. This worked really well with our Alfie. When you are in hospital after you have had the baby and husband visits. Ensure he takes home a little vest or something with the baby's smell on it. Get Gatsby to smell it and repeat every time your husband returns. Little Gatsby will know what is coming and will hopefully not get jealous when the new 'pup' arrives. Alfie was always so lovely to Daisy and even though it meant less attention for him, he never seemed to hold it against her. I think the smell tip worked really well. xx

How adorable! Your nursery is perfect. In fact, I just called my husband over to show him what I want *our* nursery to look like when we eventually have a baby. Thank you for the classy inspiration and I'm so happy for you! How lucky you're having a daughter first; that's my wish when I get pregnant.

Happy mother's day!

What a truly beautiful room Jennifer. Your daughter will be one lucky baby to have such a stylish, gentle and loving mother (I don't know you, but you come across as very gentle in your blog). I love the tip for Gatsby from JTP. That's so cute!

Thank you everyone! I had so much fun doing the nursery and now that it is pretty much complete I like to sit in there and read and daydream... it's almost time! Thank you for your tips too- I love them all and need them. LPC I will be getting a Moses basket- it is on my list! And Josephine- that is a great idea re: introducing the baby's scent to Gatsby. He might be a little jealous in the beginning but he's really good with kids and quite protective of them so in the long run everything should be ok... now if I could only do something about his barking!!

Ah, delightful. What a wonderful space...and Gatsby seems to be quite aware that something is coming. (And in a suitable frame of mind, too. :) )

I have a friend who had a baby nearly three months ago, and their dog has adapted beautifully to the new family configuration. She might be a *tad* woeful eyed when it comes to seeking attention, but nothing scary for the baby. And, in fact, has been rather protective of her human sibling.

Enjoy, enjoy.
