Skindinavia Giveaway! and My New Favorite Setting Powder

Hello everyone I hope you are having a great week! This Thursday post has a makeup setting theme to it...

Let's start with the exciting giveaway first:

Ever since I reviewed Skindinavia finishing sprays on The Daily Connoisseur I have been hooked on using their finishing spray after every morning makeup application (no matter how minimal my le no makeup look is). A good finishing spray keeps your makeup in place for up to 8 hours- eliminating the need for touch-ups throughout the day.

Well Skindinavia has kindly offered to give away one of their best selling finishing sprays for winter, the Moisture Lock, to one lucky reader of The Daily Connoisseur!

The contest is open to everyone (not just the United States).

Here is how you enter:

- Please leave me a comment below telling me your favorite makeup item that you cannot do without (so that we can all get some good recommendations out of this!)

- In your comment please let me know how you follow The Daily Connoisseur (follower, email subscriber, kindle subscriber, twitter follower or YouTube subscriber).

- As a bonus, those that have read and reviewed my book, Lessons from Madame Chic, on either Amazon.com or BN.com will be entered twice in the giveaway! So please let me know.

- And finally unless you have a very unique online name, please leave me your first and last name (or last initial) so that I can properly enter you into the giveaway. I will announce the winner this coming Monday. Best of luck!

And now for the rest of this week's post...

Makeup For Ever HD Powder

And now on to a new beauty recommendation I have for you... my favorite new setting powder.

I purchased Makeup for Ever's HD (high definition) powder at Sephora because I had been looking for a translucent powder that created a flawless finish to my makeup and controlled shine (I get so shiny in pictures!)

After reading great reviews about this product on Sephora.com I decided to purchase this powder in the store and have been very pleased with the results.

**As a side note, a little goes a long way with this powder. Do not use too much or you might experience a powder faux pas when in front of flashing cameras as we have seen on some Hollywood starlets recently on the red carpet. Thank you to YouTube viewer thedodgerdog22 for mentioning this. I wore this powder on Thanksgiving where we took lots of pictures and turned out great in all of them, but then again I use very little on my powder brush!

To learn more about the powder, please watch my video above. If you are unable to see the embedded video click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or visit my channel: www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur

And lastly, Skindinavia is doing their own very fun contest this week called Backstage Beauty Access. Click here for details.

Good morning, Jennifer! My favorite make-up item is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex. I could not believe the difference in how my skin looked after I started using it. Not only does it provide a nice, smooth surface to apply foundation to, but the Dermaxyl really does help minimize the appearance of wrinkes (and stops foundation from settling in them).

I am an email subscriber and Twitter follower. Your book is on my Christmas list :)

Hello!
I love your blog! My best friend and fellow francophile introduced me to your blog and I've been reading ever since.
My go to product is Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. Some times in a rush I will wear only this and a touch of translucent powder. As more of skin perfectionist than a make-up perfectionist it gives me that bit of coverage I need to cover my dark circles without requiring me to use a foundation to blend the color.
Thanks for sharing all our finds!

I'm predominately a Bobby Brown girl, but my can't-do-without is the black Noir Intense, waterproof "Great Lash" mascara by Maybelline. Yup, it's from a drugstore, but I swear by it. Tried others, but haven't found any better for the price point in terms of lasting any longer, or smoothness in formulation for easy, even application.

Hello Jennifer!
I recently discovered Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. I always had trouble with my make-up disappearing by mid-day. This is a truly wonderful product and keeps everything in place as well as reduces shine!
I am a YouTube Follower (MrsRisse) and check in on your blog a few times a week. Your book was an inspirational read, and I have already recommended it to many friends :)

My greatest make up discovery has been an inexpensive drugstore mascara, Revlon GrowLuscious. It's only $12 but it makes my eyelashes look incredible!

I'm subscribed via google friend connect and I read you in my google reader.

I'd love to try out this finishing spray!

Hi!
I subscribe by email. The one product that I'm never without is Bobbi Brown Concealer. I also apply her Corrector under it when my under eye area looks bad. No other concealer has worked as well and I've tried dozens :) I can't use it on other areas on my face though or I'll break out, unfortunately. Thanks!

Hi Jennifer!

My new favorite makeup item is Laura Mercier Flawless Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain. I was looking to try something new after using MAC StudioFix N4 Powder for 5 years. The tinted moisturizer gives me good coverage and it has SPF in it.

I follow your blog and I will be posting a review of your book on Amazon, I'm halfway through it. Great read!

Good afternoon! I enjoy reading your blog and as a result, you have inspired me to live a more elegant life! I can't live without Nars blush called "Orgasm." The blush gives my face a healthy glow without the color being too overpowering. I believe most complexions can wear this color. I follow your blog and I plan to order your book off of Amazon. Looking forward to reading your work and also to your future blog entries!

Also I love madame chic. Just finished reading it on my kindle. I keep up with your blog on my Droid. I am trying to commit to a 10, well maybe 15 item wardrobe.

I just discovered your blog and bought your book on Amazon. I am halfway through your book and am going to tackle my closet this weekend to whittle down my wardrobe.

I love makeup and use a lot of Laura Mericer products.. My favorite product is a cream cheek illuminator called Golden Pink. I wore it under my Mericer cream blush (color: Blaze) at my wedding in October and everyone commented on how I was "glowing". I was so happy and when looking at the pictures, my face shows how very magical this evening was for me.

Oh, and I love Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder over my concealer.

I susbscribe via email.

I follow your blog byp visiting the website regularly. I havent read your book yet but it's on my christmas list too. Hopefully, santa will leave it under the tree for me. Laura H.

Hi. I cannot go one day without my MAC concealer(liquid). It does a great job covering my age spots. It matches my complexion better that n any other concealer. Actually, it works so well I don't have a need for foundation. I use a little finishing powder after.
I've read several of the reviews on Amazon. Today, traditions and manners appear lost. However, there is so much beauty and grace when practiced.
I follow your blog by email and look forward to reading it every day.

I've tried many a tinted moisturizer, and can't find anything better than the Aveeno brand in "light." Also a fan of Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil, and the Physician's Formula matte eye shadow quads. Nars semi-matte lipstick is at the top of my list.

I discovered your blog a few weeks ago and am now enjoying your book. As a student/stagiaire in Paris 15 years ago, I am relating to your advice.

The best make-up product that I have used is Christian Dior's eye shadow palettes. The pigments and color combinations are fabulous.
