New Haircut, Baby News & Other Exciting Updates

I hope you all had a great weekend. Last week I got a new haircut and recorded this quick video blog to show you the before and after (and my inspiration picture!) If you are unable to see the above embedded video, click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or visit my channel: www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur

Once this baby comes I don't anticipate having a lot of time to blow dry my hair so I decided to get rid of some length and go with an effortless, yet chic hairstyle. Thank you to Valentino at Salon Nesou for your beautiful work!

Baby Update

Speaking of babies, I am well into my third trimester of pregnancy and even though my baby isn't due until the end of May, my doctor has advised me to take it easy. I am trying to do so but as all women know, that is easier said than done! But I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have sent me well wishes about the baby.... I really appreciate it. In the meantime we are getting everything prepared chez moi in case we have an early arrival!

So as I have been trying my best to take it easy, this week's post shares with you some great reading for the week.

Fitting in Fashionably in France

I have done a small series of posts for the company Foreign IQ on fitting in fashionably in France. If you are planning a trip to the beautiful country any time soon (or anywhere in Europe for that matter) check out my advice on packing shoes, clothes, accessories and outerwear. You can visit the posts by clicking here or by visiting Foreign IQ's blog: http://www.foreigniq.com/blog

The Daily Mail and Le Point

Along with being featured in The New York Times last week I was also featured on The Daily Mail in the UK and today in France's Le Point (talk about a great week!) To see the articles click on the embedded links.

Giveaway

If you haven't already entered last week's giveaway for the Benedetta eye cream, there is still time. I am announcing the winner on Thursday. As a side note, some of you email subscribers have told me you are unable to leave comments on the giveaway post. Never fear, I am still counting your emails as entries. Good luck!

This week I would love to know... what is your current hairstyle?

Jennifer's book, Lessons from Madame Chic: The Top 20 Things I Learned While Living in Paris, is now available in Paperback, Kindle and Nook.

I loved your 3 part blog on fitting in fashionably in France. I'm heading there in April for couple weeks, and you have inspired me to buy a NICE pair of ballet flats (instead of the cheapo Old Navy ones that I usually go for). Also, I'm feeling the trench coat! Thanks for the tips ;-)

I just got my hair cut about a month ago with layers and length taken off so that it hits right at my shoulders. I had resorted to a ponytail every day b/c I didn't have the time to wash and fix it with Samuel (he's into everything now). But now I have discovered by using volumizer tonic, volume mousse and volume hairspray from Aveda that I can wash, dry, style, flat iron my hair once and keep it looking good for 4 or 5 days without having to wash it. That's major for me. The key I learned was to use lots of product in it and to use the volumizing hairspray to help dry it out each day. I just back brush the crown of my head and spritz the hairspray and I'm done. I even have gotten lots of compliments on it lately and my friends have no idea that its been days since I washed it. :)

Your new cut is very chic looking and I like the versatility of the length. In a snip of time you can pull it back in a pony tail or pop it into a chic chignon.
You have been getting fabulous press and media coverage too...
sounds like you need to put up your feet and relax for a while as you've got a really important job as a mom and you need to get your beauty rest!

You are such a lovely young woman Jennifer, so gracious and wise.

Take care,

Love your new haircut, and congratulations on the features! My current hairstyle is a layered, bob, and I'm actually having it cut today, it's grown a bit too long. Going from long to short last year, this is my favourite hairstyle so far:) Short, but still very feminine.

I am a little late with this comment but congratulations on the great reviews! It is a lovely book and one of the few I am taking along with me on my upcoming first ever trip to Paris!!

I just got my hair cut on Saturday, and I love the new style. I took off seven inches to achieve a shoulder-grazing bob. It was a major change from my long layers and it's so much easier to style in the morning!

Your new 'do looks fabulous!

Love your haircut! Congrats again on your reviews! NYT- awesome review, & great to see Le Point grouped Madame Chic with the iconic French Women Don't Get Fat. Wow!

The last haircut I really enjoyed was from last year in San Diego (I live in NJ!) so I'm overdue, haha. It was similar to yours now, but an inch or so longer.

Take care ~Dee J.

Love the cut! It suits you nicely and will be easy to care for as you enter the lovely "can't wait to have this baby" period of pregnancy. Congrats on your success! You deserve it!

Hi Jennifer!

Your haircut looks lovely! It seems that it will be easy to maintain, as you will soon have two little ones!
As for myself, I really like Rachel McAdam's hair in Midnight In Paris. I have been experimenting with that look a little bit. It hasn't been very difficult because I have a natural wave. While I am at it, I might as well mention that I use your "Hollywood hair" look often, as well! That was such a fun post!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments! I am really liking the new haircut. Have had a chance to style it myself now and I find it to be very easy. It also goes up in a ponytail (not too short) so that works well for me too! Apologies that the lighting in this video is so bad. I have purchased a professional light to remedy that :) Thanks for all of your kind words of support about the press I've received lately. I have some very exciting updates that I look forward to sharing with you all soon! Jennifer x
