When we go back to visit family we don't have much time to go to other places like Richmond (seeing family and friends is the priority) so it was great to have this glimpse. I wish I could say that I am smelling the roses, but the truth is, given the actions of our California state legislators and governor, I am now spending my summer feeling outraged that they are playing havoc with our human rights and civil rights. They have authored and signed Senate bill 277 into law; our state government is now trying to force what are essentially experimental vaccines into our children, with the threat of denying them their right to a public or private education. It's outrageous that they are supporting treating our children as guinea pigs, allowing them to be used for drug company profits, and taking the power of choice away from parents. There is so much fear-mongering about what are basically extinct diseases and misinformation about what are at best ineffective, at worst dangerous, vaccines. The truth is that there have been 0 measles deaths in American children in the last ten years, but there have been over 100 measles vaccine related deaths. There is evidence to suggest that the vaccines may actually be causing the outbreaks of measles and whooping cough that we see from time to time. I am not affiliated with the following, but I can recommend www.vaccineimpact.com as a great website to inform oneself about the facts. I hope you and your readers will check it out. Thank you.Ladylikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17830602869390035670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7682312585713348709.post-86348824634450481982015-07-09T06:31:10.678-07:002015-07-09T06:31:10.678-07:00Thanks for the video, Jennifer--Richmond Upon Tham...Thanks for the video, Jennifer--Richmond Upon Thames looks beautiful! I'm in the Mid-Atlantic US and am fortunate to live within a half hour of Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, Pennsylvania). It's one of the most phenomenal gardens I've ever been to and my husband buys me a membership every year for my birthday. We visit year round--even in the winter! If you're ever in the Philadelphia area, it's definitely worth checking out.

I really enjoy visiting gardens when I'm vacationing as well. Brookgreen Gardens in Myrtle Beach is quite an experience. In addition to gardens, they have a zoo, a river tour of the property and art exhibits. What more could you want? And the garden is filled with sculptures......absolutely lovely. I've also done a self-guided garden tour in Charlotte, SC which involved seeking out several cemeteries and old church yards. It sounds kind of spooky, I know, but the juxtaposition of the headstones and the flora was quite striking. I looked after the string quintet and they played Baroque suites with a double bassist from the Tokyo Philharmonic and one of the best freelance violinists in Japan; our choir sang in Suntory Hall in Tokyo and our wind band played at several high schools and universities. We also enjoyed staying in a ryokan in the mountains near Hakone and visiting temples in Kyoto. It was 'Seeking out the Arts' in overdrive! We had such a wonderful experience and the combined loveliness of the summer gardens and the green hills in the distance (it is the rainy month in Japan) made it an unforgettable trip for us all.

Now we are back in the Sydney winter, which is bright and sunny but a little bit Antarctic this week ...Sally in Sydneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03862435550392398223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7682312585713348709.post-71788483213124547172015-07-06T11:55:54.867-07:002015-07-06T11:55:54.867-07:00Hi Jennifer,
