The Honest Scrap Award
I am very proud to announce that The Daily Connoisseur has been presented with the Honest Scrap Award by the beautiful and enigmatic Josephine of Tale Peddler. Thank you Josephine- I am truly honored! So as the recipient of this prestigious award I must now list 10 honest scrap things about myself and pass the award on to 10 blogs I love. So here we go…
Honest Scrap about The Daily Connoisseur:
1. I play the piano. I have a bad habit of practicing really difficult songs- learning them ¾ of the way through and giving up right before the end. To mend this I do not allow myself to learn a new song until I have completed the last one. Right now I am working on Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major by Mozart.
2. My dog Gatsby (pictured above) is the absolute delight of my life.
3. I strive for Hercule Poirot-like order in my home. Whether or not I achieve it is another matter (I just noticed the errant milk carton cap on the floor in Gatsby's picture... what would Poirot say to that? I shudder.)
4. My husband’s business is in the fashion industry- I help him run it.
5. I travel to London twice a year.
6. I try to write for two hours a day (give or take an hour).
7. My favorite city in the world is Paris.
8. Je parle Francais but can't get my computer to speak it!
9. I love to cook but am petrified of throwing dinner parties for anyone other than family and really close friends.
10. I am on the second draft of my murder mystery and hope to be finished before the New Year.
And now I pass this award onto the following 10 bloggers who, in my opinion, blog par excellence.
1. The Epic. The Epic, by M. Lane is a blog about living well. M. Lane is a keen observer, a sharp writer and frankly the type of stylish person that the world could use a lot more of. I am new to this blog and love it!
2. French Essence. Vicki at French Essence already has a cult following. She is an Australian living in France and does everything with style and panache. Her blog is fabulous and she is the celebrated author of My French Life.
3. A Rose Beyond the Thames. Rose is a Londoner blogging about her fascinating life and the wonderful things she encounters in it. I’ve followed this blog for a long time and it never fails to please me.
4. Chez la Vie. Cashmere Librarian at Chez la Vie has got style and isn’t afraid to blog about it. (I’m noticing a trend here… I only read blogs by people with style).
5. Fragrance Bouquet. Divina’s blog about perfume is evocative and comprehensive. She has a energetic spirit that radiates through her words. I especially love her travel blogs focused on scent.
6. Notes From the Ledge. Scentscelf’s witty and humorous fragrance observations are life-affirming and never fail to bring a smile to my face.
7. La Belette Rouge. A fellow Angeleno, La Belette Rouge explores life in Los Angeles and has several interesting ongoing posts such as Thursdays with Igor and Writing in Valencia.
8. Maitresse. A blog about reading, writing and culture in Paris. I feel smarter after I read posts from this blog.
9. Polly-Vous Francais? This blog has a wealth of information and entertainment for the Francophile. It discusses in intricate detail the ongoing allure of the City of Light.
10. The Machinist’s Wife. Helen is a mother, a businesswoman and pie maker all rolled into one. Her fascinating blog follows her unique life. I especially love her posts on pies and poetry.
And of course Josephine's fabulous blog Tale Peddler is a must on my blog list. I always look forward to her observations, witticisms and updates about her life every Monday, Wednesday and Fabbo Friday. Thanks Josephine for allowing me to share these 'honest scrap' things about myself! xo

You darling for those lovely words. Your Blog is fabbo and deserves all awards that will come your way! The only thing I look forward to more than seeing your posts is being able to hold your mystery novel and say to myself, "I knew her when..."
ReplyDeleteI look forward to checking out your list of favourites. I already love Vicki, Helen and Belette (what a trio!) Thank you Jennifer for your lovely Blog and stylish, exciting posts. Gatsby is a total trick and it is fascinating to learn more about you. xx
Jennifer! Thank you, sweet woman for your encouraging words. It is lovely to hear from you. Thank you for the award and thinking of me. You are so encouraging and I am grateful for your kindness. Like Josephine says - your blog deserves all the awards that will come your way. Where can I read more about your novel writing? I will add you to the 'authors' I have listed. Now I'm off to go and peek at the other blogs you have listed...
ReplyDeleteBRAVO!
ReplyDeleteAdore the doggie!!!
Congratulations to you!!! This is a well deserved award, your blog is so gorgeous. I am really and truly delighted that Josephine introduced me to you.
ReplyDeleteGatsby! What a great name. He needs a Daisy!!!....And, ooh, a murder mystery!! I can't wait to read it. I am not in a position to judge Poirot, but he can be a bit extreme. So maybe not being up to his standards isn't such a bad thing!;-)
Thanks again. I am honoured to be in such esteemed company.
xoxo
Your dog and your blog look wonderful. Looking forward to following the latter. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind words.

Congratulations on the award! Gatsby is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog, but I enjoy reading yours and the other blogs mentioned. I am working on a novel though. :-)
Rebecca- I did not know you were writing a book and am thrilled to hear it! What type of book?
ReplyDeleteAlso if you were to ever start a blog one day I would count myself fortunate to be one of your first readers/ fans :)
Thank you to all of you for your kind words... Being in a community of such wonderful writers as yourself is very humbling to me and keeps me inspiration flowing...
ReplyDeleteOops- please disregard the spelling/ grammar errors in my last comment. Let me try this again:

Thank you for the encouraging words on blogging. :) You and the other bloggers here are wonderful incentives to blog!
ReplyDeleteMy novel started out as strictly a bodice ripper romance but is now morphing into more mystery/romance (not so much the romance genre). I'm writing it with a friend so we bounce ideas off each other. She is also a much better technical writer than me, whereas I come up with more of the plotlines. Writing can be so much fun, but challenging, as you know.
You're a dear--thank you so much! I will try to come up with something worthy of your introduction...although I might have to make it up! :-)
ReplyDeleteRebecca- a bodice-ripping mystery sounds like my kind of book! You must keep us updated on your progress. My favorite thing in the world is talking about writing with fellow writers... xo
ReplyDeleteI love the company you put me in! Thank you so much for thinking so well of my blog. I shall endeavor to be honest and amusing in my scrap...
ReplyDelete:)
thank you so much for my award! how lovely. I have posted my scrap today!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you! I'm honored... and we have a lot in common! I also play the piano, except I only have a keyboard in my apartment, which is ok (weighted keys at least) but is not enough. So I don't have the courage to work on anything real. I just play tori amos and regina spektor songs on it :)
ReplyDeleteMaitresse- I'm honored that you stopped by my blog! I've admired your work for a long time... Thank you for providing such thought provoking reading...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your very well deserved award Jennifer and thank you, thank you, thank you. I am so touched by your generous, sweet words. I look forward to reading those blogs that I don't know and I am ever so happy to be in the company of the ones that I do....xxv
ReplyDeleteLet me be the first to tell you that having gone through each blog you mentioned here (and I am busy going through every single year of your archived blogs), you remain my very favorite. Several blogs that you listed are no longer blogging. I am so pleased that you are! I hope you do all that is necessary to keep The Daily Connoisseur a fresh and inspiring creation for you. I hate to see you take time off, but WE ALL need time to recoup, refresh and renew. I am very glad you see the importance of this and actually DO IT. You continue to train many of us to polish our poise, and down time is a necessary “must”. I pray for you.
