The Daily Connoisseur's Very First Giveaway!

Dear Readers,

This year I will be spending Christmas (and the entire month of December, really) in England and I wanted to do a holiday giveaway before I jet off! This giveaway is to thank you, my cherished readers, for your readership and continuous support on The Daily Connoisseur...

So, for my first giveaway, I wanted to offer something luxurious and special- a little luxury in the form of Relaxing Lavender Foot and Hand Cream from L'Occitane En Provence...

I encourage everyone to enter the giveaway (you do not have to live in the United States to enter).

To be eligible for the giveaway:

- You must either be a follower or verified email subscriber of The Daily Connoisseur. (If you have any questions on either of these things, please do let me know).

and

- You must leave a comment on this post describing your current favorite little luxury in life...

I will pick the winner out of a hat this Sunday... (drawing the winner out of a hat is so old fashioned and romantic- don't you think?) and the winner will be announced on Monday, November 16th...

Best of luck!

Bisous,

Jennifer xx

  1. I just posted on this very topic on my own blog. Perhaps November is a time when many of us feel the need for things luxurious?

My favorite little luxury is good dish soap. Life is too short to do all those dishes with the fakey-smelling stuff!

  2. I don't want to take part in the competition but just wanted to say that if you need any tips for England, just yell.

  3. Favourite luxury. 18 year old Lagavulin Single Malt Whisky. (And if your trip to England takes you to Yorkshire you can always call in for a glass or two)

  4. I'm trying to think of a luxery I allow myself. Would going to concerts count? That is where most of my free money goes!

  5. Just became a follower (found your blog through Coastal Chicster) and looking forward to reading your blog. My luxury is pretty much anything hair - shampoos, conditioners, treatments, oils etc. It's amazing how much money I spend on that stuff.

  6. Ok, I'll give it a try! One luxury, learned from a French woman and in keeping with the theme of this blog, is to always buy/drink champagne from France(preferably expensive:).

Have a wonderful time in England, I lived and studied in London many years ago. A great(and romantic) place to spend the holidays!

  7. Hi Jennifer,
I haven't bought anything from L'Occitane in ages, but I love their stuff! My current favorite little luxuries in life are organic and natural beauty products. Right now I am loving Nature's Gate Papaya Moisturizing Lotion and Noah's Naturals Anti-Aging Gel Serum. BTW, I'm totally envious of your English holiday, how exciting!

  8. I imagine that to many, my favorite little luxury is mundane, but it gratifies me. A soy milk cappucino or a wonderful cafe con leche. Usually the ones I make myself are the real treat, because that means that usually means I'm going to sit down and relax a bit. I'm all "ahhhh" just thinking about it.

  9. How exciting Jennifer. A giveaway and a trip to England! My favourite little luxury at the moment is making time to read a good book every night. It is my fave part of the day. xx

  10. My favorite current little luxury is an ice-cold martini whilst watching vintage movies. My husband and I wrangle Les Petits to bed then he mixes the drinks while I peruse the DVR or netflix pile. We sometimes don't watch the whole movie. ;)

  13. My luxury item is my small renovated bathroom that was 25 years in the dreaming/planning process! It is an oasis! The reno included a new Iron claw foot tub from Portugal... (amazing, considering the size of our wee bathroom in our 1913 heritage arts and crafts bungalow) in-floor heating, white subway tile, plush white Abyss towels, bath salts, a large natural sponge, candles, and lovely triple milled soap and period lighting.
I go there to soak and seek refuge after life's demands wear heavy on me and emerge refreshed! I recommend it to all....hot water, sweet scents, candlelight and maybe a glass of wine or bubbly!

  14. sometimes i work nightshifts in a hotel. then, the best thing is to come home while everyone's leaving for work, make myself a delicious breakfast, english tea and just lie into our bath. i even take my laptop to the bathroom and so i'm having my bohemic one hour with my fave tv show, meal and i'm just relaxing. i think that's quite a luxury these days!

enjoy england! hope to read your posts from the kingdom as well ;)

  16. Have a wonderful time in England! My favorite luxury right now is the wedge of Bailey Hazen Blue cheese that I purchased recently. I love to eat it with a sliced pair and some fancy crackers. I like to enjoy it all with a glass of wine.

P.S: Living in the countryside, 40 minutes outside Paris is my great luxury. Still can't believe it after all these years.

  18. How fun! A luxury for me right now is taking the time to read my favorite blogs. It is even more decadently delightful than chocolate or any other treat that I can reward myself with.

  19. Oh so fun! I have never been to London, but I do dream of going one day. One of my favorite little luxury is buying a bar of handcrafted soap from a soap boutique that I adore. I am a total soap geek.

    I'm a subscriber - it's a luxury to enjoy these musings!

My favourite luxury at the moment is My French Life which I've just finished, I have been given Paris Tango which I'm currently devouring and I have French Essence to ward off the longings once I've finished book number 2 - thank you to Vicky Archer and Carla Coulson for such wonderful indulgences. Of course the ultimate luxury is my 10 day holiday in Paris, miles away from the heat of Australia. Bliss......

  25. This is not as easy as it sounds ... differentiating between luxury and necessity ... I think my boundaries are a little blurred.

I say my pets are my biggest luxury ... my best love.

Exciting, that you are coming to England for a whole month ... wow. What will you be doing?

    Good luck.

  26. L'Occitane is amazing. :) What a great giveaway! As I am currently weathering a nasty nor'easter here in Virginia Beach (keep your fingers crossed that my car doesn't float away!), my favorite little luxury this very moment are my Plueys rainboots - magenta with orange goldfish on them! They were the only reason I could come up with to drag myself to work today. :) Another little luxury for me this time of year is Il Giardino, a delicious Italian restaurant down the street at the Oceanfront. They have two-for-one dinners on Sunday nights in the off-season. Yum. :) Oh, and that Fresh Sugar Acai Age-Delay Body Lotion that I splurged on. It smells soooo good and makes my skin feel awesome. I hope you have a wonderful time in England!

  27. Luxury is a can of black olives. Pitted. Small, so I can pop them into my mouth one at a time and recall a childhood when everything was still simple and infinite.

The height of luxury is Paris, at Christmas. Or Normandy, though there the cold bites deeper. Perhaps it is the same anywhere in France. The air, oh the air is sublime - spiced with sugar and flame - crèpes, gauffres, street vendors with their hands in gloves but their fingers exposed to serve food, then place your change in a small flat dish... the lights are simpler and more sparse than in the States, and thus, more beautiful. We see the buildings. We see the trees. We see the night.

The Champs-Elysées of course is the exception. It is a blaze of lighting and activity, people scurrying across the road when it's their turn to do so, steps quickening in the cold.

Ultimate luxury would be the holidays in Paris, in bed with a loved one, and a can of ripe pitted olives. Small, so you can pop them easily into your mouth, or roll them along your lover's belly, and laugh together like children.

  28. In my attempt to reduce stress in my life I have been using my Thursday evenings as mini spa time for myself. I use a face mask and a foot bath to relax with a glass of wine and just enjoy the relaxation. This is my weekly luxury to myself and it really helps me handle the rest of the week.

  29. My luxury would be a flute of champagne after a wonderful meal, shared with a close, personal friend.

  30. Great giveaway and I'm so excited for you to go to England. How fabulous.

My favorite little luxury at the moment? My new bottle of Dior Dior Show Black Out Mascara. I don't use it every day, only when I have an excuse to get dressed up or doing something important. I love the way it makes my lashes look. Such a fun and luxurious product.

  31. I love this beautiful blog...and what a fun giveaway! The weather is beautiful in Texas right now--so my little luxury is having picnics at the park while my little ones play.

  32. One little luxury I refuse to give up is real cream in my coffee. It's a small thing, I know, but when you compare it with the awful powdered stuff there is just no question. Honestly, I look forward to waking up every morning because of my yummy, yummy coffee.

Thanks so much for this giveaway. Have a great time in England. What a beautiful place to spend the holidays.

  33. Sorry I missed the contest but wanted to say "hello" anyway. Thank you for the suggestion to use Qi Gong to help me sleep. I'm going to see how it's done and hope it helps. I have tried meditation but I just can't quiet my mind! This is a challenge I hope to conquer!
