It’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty post. And it could be because I have not bought as many new products as I usually do in the last few months, but rather have been trying to use and appreciate what I already have (strangely difficult in the beginning, but easier as time goes on...)
I have, however, managed to discover three little gems during my beauty shopping hiatus and am excited to share them with you...
Living Proof No Frizz Styling Treatment
This is wonderment in a bottle. I comb a dab of the straight making for thick to coarse hair styling treatment in my hair after showering, and I’m telling you, my blow dry looks nearly professional every time! If you have a problem with frizzy hair (and sadly I do) you will love this product. It literally makes my hair soft and smooth… ♥♥♥ (and widely available at Sephora)
Cath Kidston Guest Soap Collection in Wild Flowers
Is this not the cutest present ever? My mother-in-law recently gave this to me and I was so delighted! I love Cath Kidston soaps… the vintage inspired packaging is beautiful and the three scents (Bluebell, Wild Rose and Honeysuckle) transport you to a field of wild flowers. I can’t wait to have a guest so I can use them... The soaps are also paraben and sulphate-free which is another lovely plus…
Victoria’s Secret Drenched in Pink Pretty and Pure Body Lotion
Ok this one was a complete surprise. I recently picked this out as a birthday present for an 18 year old. I was drawn to the pretty packaging (it would look so pretty on a dressing table, wouldn’t it?) and tried a sample on my skin just to make sure the scent was nice and that it was of high quality. I’m not sure what I was expecting (something fruity and unsophisticated perhaps?) but I was pleasantly surprised! This body lotion is delightful and the scent- pure jasmine and pink lemonade- is actually quite good... I kept sniffing my arm throughout the day, impressed with the subtle scent’s staying power. I have been unable to wear my favorite perfumes recently (as I am nearing the fifth month of pregnancy and have an aversion to strong scents) but this is one that I can live with. So I will be returning to Victoria’s Secret to purchase a pretty bottle of my own. Who knew?
I would love to know your recent beauty finds…
I am definitely going to try the Drenched in Pink lotion.
ReplyDeleteMy most recent discoveries have been Rene Furterer hair care-fabulous. I have been looking for a great haircare combo esp. for detangling. My other find was also from Sephora. Their Very Sexy Nourishing Lip Balm. Not sticky at all and has an SPF!
The No Frizz line has been hit or miss for me. I really like the Wave Shaping formula for enhancing the natural body in my hair, but I really disliked Full, the new thickener. I returned it; it made my hair feel filthy and look really dull. I exchanged it for Rene Furterer's Complexe 5 scalp and hair treatment oil. That stuff is the bomb. I would recommend it to you once your sense of smell isn't so sensitive because the oil's highly aromatic.
ReplyDeleteI'm also liking Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 55, which is sort of the U.S. version of La Roche Posay's famous Fluide Extreme (which I know Tish uses). I love the elegant "slip" and finish of this, and the protection level is great.
I just got a pot of MAC's Fluidline gel eyeliner, which is perfect for doing an exaggerated cat's eye. A few days ago, I found a great tutorial on doing the cat's eye on YouTube, and now I'm hooked. It is such a gamine look.
My last, recent beauty love is Dior's Creme de Rose lip balm. It is beautiful! A soft, sheer pink on the lips but highly moisturizing. It has a delicate tea rose scent, and comes in a darling white pot, just like Dior's Creme Abricot for cuticles.
Sort of a lot of purchases lately, but I go in spurts like that ... months and months without buying anything new, and then buying about eight things in less than a week.
Ok, one more new favorite, and then I'm done. I swear! Plus White's 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel. I like that you can apply it with a q-tip, a toothbrush, or whitening trays -- whichever you like -- and it works really quickly. It's only like $7 a tube, too, and I like it way better than my formerly beloved Crest White Strips.
ReplyDeleteRebecca- Ooh your beauty finds sound really good... I will have to look into both of them. That lip balm sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteMarsi- LOL. I go through beauty phases too where I purchase and fall in love with a ton of items. Your list sounds fabulous... Especially the Dior Creme de Rose lip balm. Between you and Rebecca I am going to overindulge on lip balms I can feel it! I love Dior's lip products in general. They have a beautiful neutral gloss that I am in love with. I will keep the speed whitening gel in my files for future reference. Can't whiten my teeth right now because of the pregnancy but have been looking for a good find- this sounds like it is it! As for the No Frizz products- we probably have very different hair types. Mine is coarse and frizzy- practically nothing smoothes it out nicely (except for Chi silk infusion)... that's why I was so elated to find Living Proof! Hope you're well xo
Hi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteAm new to your great blog. Congratulations on your baby! I have heard only good things about the Living Proof products, so it's good to read another endorsement.
My recent beauty treasures are:
1. Chanel's new line of lipsticks - Rouge Coco in "Camelia" (No. 10)
(so creamy, richly pigmented, hydrating & moisturising...with the heavenly Chanel lipstick scent that transports me back to the 14th arondissement). My God, you have to try these lipsticks!
2. Bourjois Cosmetics' Smokey Eye Trio in Nude - made in the Chanel factory, with the same ingredients, finish, and wear as my Chanel "Mystic Eyes" Quad, for a fraction of the price!
3. Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Spray Gel - keeps the wave in my thick locks while locking out the frizz!
I see that you and I share many of the same beauty loves, such as Bare Minerals Matte foundation, and the divine YSL Parisenne! Too bad you can't use it for now, but in the meantime, looks like you have the lovely Victoria's Secret lotion to tide you over!
A bientot,
Jeanne
Hi Jeanne- Thank you so much for your comment and welcome to my blog! I have always wanted to try the Bourjois line of products- I've heard really good things about them and I like the idea of a high end feel to a cosmetics line without the cost. Those Chanel lipsticks really sound gorgeous. I would say the number one beauty products I buy are lip products (if you couldn't tell by my response to Rebecca and Marsi lol). I love lipsticks, lip balms, lip shines etc. They are just an instant way to add color and glow to the face.
ReplyDeleteThe guest soaps are charming and I can imagine they would make a perfect hostess gift.
ReplyDeleteVictoria's Secret, some time back, make a liquid soap to wash delicate lingerie. It smelled delicious. I still have one container.
Hope you are feeling well and obviously you're looking gorgeous.
xoxo.

Hi Jennifer
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are YSL Parisienne which I bought in Paris at xmas time. Also I simply cannot live without my Chanel Immitable mascara in black, I don't buy the waterproof as I don't need it. I can do a sweaty workout at the gym without a single smudge - and that is also after a full day at work - it lasts so well!
Hello Jennifer, I'm a bit tardy with this post. I love the Cath Kidston soaps, they look wonderful. Some recent beauty finds for me are the ID Bare Minerals range which I have never tried before but now love them. And a Lancôme blush which smells as wonderful as it feels and Loccitane's new Divine cream and I am in love with their Cherry Blossom EDT which is not my usual type of scent but I love it. I can remember those vomiting as soon as I smelt any sort of fragrance pregnancy days. Hope you are well. xx
