We Are Called To Rise Book Giveaway
I have heard amazing things about this next book featured on our series of giveaways. It is a deeply moving story about families and the power of human redemption.
We Are Called To Rise by Laura McBride has garnered excellent reviews and critical acclaim.
Here is the description from Simon & Schuster:
Three lives are bound together by a split-second mistake, and a child’s fate hangs in the balance.
What happens next will test—and restore—your faith in humanity.
Far from the neon lights of the Vegas strip, three lives are about to collide. A middle aged woman attempting to revive her marriage. A returning soldier waking up in a hospital with no memory of how he got there. A very brave eight-year-old immigrant boy.
This is a story about families—the ones we have and the ones we make. It’s a story about America today, where so many cultures and points of view collide and coexist. We Are Called to Rise challenges us to think about our responsibilities to each other and reminds us that no matter how cruel life can be in a given moment, it is ultimately beautiful to live, and live fully.
Simon & Schuster are kindly offering to give away 3 copies of We Are Called To Rise. Please enter the giveaway via the rafflecopter widget below. The book sounds interesting- looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes!yes! to no more booty songs! I think we've all had enough! One reason I enjoy listening to music from the 60's and 70's is that the focus was usually on love as opposed to sex. Did young songwriters suddenly decide writing about love was uncool? They're too cool for love? So sad. Off to read your post....
I read a combination of fiction non fictionwhatever catches my interest.
ReplyDeleteI usually read on my own for a hour each day then I always join my daughter for her reading time homework in the evenings which is usually 40 minutes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book so far is The Invention of Wings. I devoured it in less than two days! Beautifully written and poignant.
ReplyDeleteI read about 2 - 3 hours a day, but the time is very broken up. I always wish I had more time to read. The best thing that I have read all year is We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. Its YA, but it blew me away.
ReplyDeleteI read about an hour a day before bedtime. Books take me away from the daily stresses of life. 6 years ago,I read my way through the depressing experience of moving away from our home and our beloved neighbors. I wish that everyone knew how helpful in life it is, to have a love for reading.
ReplyDeleteI read an hour a day! Helps me to relax before bed, and takes me away from the stresses of the day.
ReplyDeleteI love to read! I prefer it over television actually!

ReplyDeleteFiction is my preference, but I recently found an anthology of Gilbert & Sullivan that is pretty awesome! Thank you for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteI love to read. I try to spend at least an hour a day reading. This book sounds very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI loved your article. I read around 30-1+hr./ day. It depends, sometimes it's just board books with my toddler... I always wish I had more time to read. I love historical fiction and have in the past few years love reading biographies of people that spark my interest. Not the ones that everyone else reads. Two of my favorite are still Tommyland by Tommy Lee (very vulgar but it met a need at the point I was at in college, and he is a nice guy and has been through a lot underneath his tattooed skin, hard-rocking skin) and Goldie Hawn's A Lotus Grows in the Mud. The hardback is written with navy blue ink which is so delightful and really great on the eyes, and she is such a happy person, it's an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis year is I have not finished any that were published this year, yet. However, I really like The Fault of Our Stars a YA book and cried while I was reading it. It recently came out in theaters.
I read about an hour and a half/day. Definitely my favorite pastime! :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading every day. Lately I've been on Michael Scott's Alchemyst series and some old favorites by Maeve Binchy. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI tend to read fiction and try to read every day. My favorote book this year has been the Wool Series which was a surprise to me since it falls into a genre I usually avoid. I was asked to read the first book as part of a book group and ended up reading all three!
ReplyDeleteI read an hour or two daily. I read a mix of fiction and non fiction. This year I've read a few of Santa Montefiore's books thanks to Jennifer's blog highlighting her writing. I enjoyed the "Primal Blueprint" on diet and lifestyle. Currently reading "Lovers at the Cameleon Club 1932." It was not what I expected, but powerful and original.
ReplyDeleteI love books! I read both fiction and non.
