Ten-Item Wardrobe SS 2019 | Jennifer L. Scott

Thank you for joining me for the ten-item wardrobe fashion show for spring 2019. I have 11 core items this season.

My focus for this season was pretty colors, feminine silhouettes, and nursing-friendly outfits. These clothes fit my lifestyle of stay-at-home mother. I really love my wardrobe this season! As it heats up here in Southern California, I might switch out the long-sleeve dresses (A.P.C. and the maxi dress) with cooler options, we will see!

If you are unfamiliar with the ten-item wardrobe, check out my book, Lessons from Madame Chic, and my TEDx talk on the ten-item wardrobe.

Many of the items are old and no longer available, but I have linked similar pieces where I can.

Sea foam floral Lands' End dress with white cardigan (I'm linking a similar one here).

Silk Rebecca Taylor dress (No longer available. I have linked to Rebecca Taylor)

Floral maxi dress (no longer available) I have listed a similar one here.

A.P.C. dress (no longer available) I have linked A.P.C. here and a similar dress here , here, and here.

Red floral blouse (originally from TJ Maxx) I have linked a similar one here which would need to be worn with a demi-camisole.

Lands' End jeans

Lands' End denim skirt. This was bought as a transition piece after my 3rd pregnancy and is no longer available. I am listing a similar denim skirt here.

Here are the extras shown in today's video:

Sam Edelman Gigi sandal A spring/summer favorite of mine, this sandal is very comfortable and goes with everything. I love it!

The striped tee is by Lands' End

I LOVE the Garnet Hill cork sandals

I also like the lightweight Garnet Hill sweaters

I hope you enjoy today's video.

Comment of the Week

Regarding The Chic Assignment for April, Bella the Reader wrote, "Great assignments for this month!! I've been following the concept of "always being presentable" for several years now and I can assure your viewers that once you get used to it, your business casual from work will seem just as comfortable as your yoga pants, and I always feel happier and more productive when I am dressed in my nice clothes, even as you put it, when I am only going to go to the grocery store that day. Thank you for your encouragement to live this way!!"

Bella, yes! I couldn't agree more. When you become accustomed to dressing up on a regular basis, you also become more comfortable in those clothes. You might even find that you feel uncomfortable in sweats because they are not a true representation of your style. Thanks for your great comment.

I hope you enjoyed my ten-item wardrobe fashion show. Which look is your favorite?

  7. I love this ten item wardrobe! The LL Bean summer knit dresses reminds me of how Olivia Walton dressed on the The Waltons television show. Classy and elegant! I might have to give in and buy one myself. Thanks for sharing your wardrobe with us (and for giving us a good laugh with the hubby's runway walk😂)

  9. Ladies, thank you for watching this season's ten-item wardrobe. As always, Ben has stolen the show from me. I need to take notes from his catwalk for next time. Ha! Thank you so much. Jennifer xx

  10. Ever so grateful to you for mentioning Ben here, Jennifer. I thought I'd seen everything but I hadn't watched RIGHT until the end past the credits. That'll teach me! Had to go back and watch again to see what I'd missed, ha ha. Worth it.

  11. Love your SS 2109 wardrobe and as someone who watches film credits, I'm always happy with these surprises at the end. Mr. Connoisseur's catwalk and your happy smile at the end along with your children's participation adds so much. As for your wardrobe, I LOVE those L. L. Bean dresses -- they are comfortable, pretty and easy to care for -- and I have the brushstroke, polkadot and a geoprint in ocean blue. My twin sister fell in love with them when I wore them on a trip together, so I bought her two and now we'll be dressed alike "remotely." I tried your Kork-Ease shoes, because I wanted to replace some old Vince Camuto heeled sandals for a wedge-style, but these were a bit too big for me. I may try another Kork-ease style. Your wardrobe is such a wonderful mix with dresses, a skirt and jeans and this one has me really thinking about putting ten items within my current wardrobe to see if I can finally embrace it fully.
