As part of The Chic Assignment for September, we are curating our fall accessories. As the seasons change, we delight in changing out our clothing, and we should pay equal attention to our accessories. If you pull out your seasonal accessories and have them readily available in your closet, you will be more likely to reach for them, making dressing each morning that much more enjoyable and effortless.
Today, I am sharing jewelry, boots, scarves, wraps, nail polish, hair accessories, and handbags with you. These are the items that will round out my fall ten-item wardrobe.
Let's start with jewelry.
Sandro pearl drop earrings these earrings have a Renaissance vibe to them and are bright and sunny.
I enjoy my seasonal partnership with Ana Luisa Jewelry and they partnered with me for today's video. I chose my six favorite pieces from their fall collection to share the various jewelry trends that are prevalent this season. They use recycled gold in their jewelry, making it affordable and sustainable for the customer.

Alba pearl drop These chunky statement earrings are chic and make a bold statement.
Plato necklace This lovely necklace reminds me of a Roman coin.
Celine pearl necklace This is a Swarovski crystal necklace that comes in a very classic length.
Hana marble pink earrings are more fashion-forward. The backs are gold and are quite unique.
Michelle bracelet Designed by Michelle Choi, this beautiful dangling cross bracelet is a classic.

You cannot go wrong with a classic riding boot. They look great under long skirts and dresses, as well as with jeans or leggings tucked in. Here is another similar boot in black that would look so chic.
Blondo boots are comfortable, high-quality, and waterproof. These work great with jeans and dresses.
These Duchess boots are chic, comfortable, and very high-quality. They also come in black. I am eyeing the Captain boot from the same brand as I love the Victorian detail with the tie-up laces.
Next, let's look at scarves. I lovely a cozy plaid scarf in the fall season. This affordable one is from Amazon and can actually double as a throw blanket for a chair or sofa.
A chunky knit infinity scarf is another great option for fall.
A tan pashmina will carry you far. You could use this year round, of course, but you can style it with other clothing and accessories to carry it into fall.
This wrap from MerSea is excellent for travel and perfect for the changing temperature. The unique wrap allows you to put your hands through a short "sleeve" like a sweater while not clinging to the underarm area. This particular wrap is reversible, making it even more versatile. Also featured in this look are my high-wasted cropped jeans, Edwardian-inspired white tee shirt, and leopard sandals.
As for hair accessories, I have been enjoying the effortless, chic look from headbands. This top-knot set of 12 headbands on Amazon is affordable and comes with many fall shades.
Velvet scrunchies and bow ties (I'm linking my favorites here and here) are another great way to embrace the fall season. The velvet texture adds a luxurious and regal touch to your hair. As you saw with my previous feature, The Duchess of Cambridge enjoys wearing velvet scrunchies as well.
Note this picture I found of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis where she is wearing the velvet bow and pearl necklace. Some looks are timeless!
Neutrals are very popular right now for nail polish. My favorite this season has got to be Honeymoon from Londontown. (Use code JenniferS for 15% off your first order). I also love wine colored shades this time of year. For a complete look at fall neutral nails, check out my Londontown post from last month.
I have always had a very minimal handbag collection. My favorite Louis Vuitton tote continues to perform beautifully and I love the chic Parisian style it lends to any outfit. eBay is a great place to get used verified Louis Vuitton handbags
My other handbags are no longer available (they were from London Sole) so I am linking similar ones here and here.
I hope you enjoy today's video.

Comment of the Week
On last week's batch cooking post, Mimi G. writes, "I batch cook all the time. Whenever I make a one-pot meal, like Coq au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon, I always make enough for a family of 4, even though we are just two. We eat half of it that day, and I freeze the rest for when I don't have the time or inclination to cook. I make and have on hand a huge batch of chili, which I portion out and freeze. I also have on hand in the freezer my homemade hamburger patties and a batch of cooked meatballs, and also panko breaded chicken tenders. These items can quickly become various dishes. Also, since we love homemade bread, I will bake a couple baguettes, which I cut in half and freeze. When thawed, then heated in a 400 degree oven for a few minutes, it tastes just as it does when freshly baked."
Hi Mimi, batch cooking is an absolute must, not only for large families, but everyone. It is time-saving and economical. Thanks for sharing your batch cooking routine!

Thank you for sharing your fall accessories, Jennifer. I always enjoy seeing your seasonal wardrobes. I recently reviewed your older YouTube videos on fall capsule wardrobes and thought I would recommend them to your viewers. They were really helpful in giving me ideas for this year’s fall/winter capsule. Even though the videos were older, your selections were timeless and could be easily worn today. I appreciate the time and effort you put into creating your capsules.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, Enjoyed today’s accessory video since I’ve always loved accessorizing my outfits. It’s such an easy way to change up a look. I recently discovered a unique handbag line by a company called R. Riveter. It was founded by two wives whose husbands are in the military. Their story is on their website and I love supporting them. All of their handbags are made in the USA by military wives and of very nice quality. Because military families often move around a lot, it is often difficult for the wives to pursue a career. With R. Riveter they can work from home and have great flexibility with the hours they work. Each bag identifies who worked on it and you can look on the website to read a bit about the woman’s story who worked on a particular item. I ordered one bag and was very impressed with the quality of the construction and the leather. The site also has a discount code if you register. It’s a fun site to check out.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, thanks for focusing on accessories in a video. Do you prefer hair accessories rather than hats in California? Hats are stylish and practical here in Canada...though there are more than beanies and ball caps available, I rarely see anything else! Lately I’ve been eyeing a Trilby.
ReplyDeleteI love your top in this video! Where is it from? Thanks for sharing so many lovely things with us!
ReplyDeleteBoots, Pearls, scarves and velvet scrunchies are all on repeat here in my wardrobe too!
ReplyDeleteJackie was such an elegant woman...so well dressed and always in good taste.
Your style and accessories are chic and understated...very French.
XO
Will you be doing a video with your Fall/Winter 10 item wardrobe soon??
ReplyDeleteYou have such good taste, Jennifer. I love your jewelry, and have to admit I even like that nail polish color on you. I am wearing velvet scrunchies most of the time now.
ReplyDeletePersonally not interested in handbags. I am a minimalist on that as well, and just use a black quality, FUNCTIONAL bag until it wears out, then I get another one. Years ago I tried coordinating bags with outfits and it was so frustrating, even with the "drop-in organizers". Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist and then had to have shoes that coordinated with the bag, the weather, the occasion, on and on.
I don't wear "autumn colors" well... the taupes, beige, rust, olive, gold, etc. I really wish I could because I think they are so warm and pretty. But I am going to look for a plaid in colors that do work for me, because plaid itself can speak "autumn". (Actually, I am astounded at how much variety in color and style you can wear well, Jennifer. Lucky you!)
Too bad London Sole isn't still around!! Neat tidbit to learn that your MIL designed boots! How cool is that?
Like Deborah above, I also am a handbag minimalist. I have a capacious black Coach shoulderbag that I purchased at a consignment shop that I wear mostly all the time. I have a small classic Chanel bag for evening/dressy wear (I detest clutch bags! I like my hands free.) And a leather backpack for when I'm hiking. That's it.
ReplyDeleteI also don't wear autumn colors because I have a cool-toned complexion, and any hint of warmth in a color makes me look jaundiced. They are lovely... but not for me.
As for boots, my go-to boot is the Vicar boot by Pikolino https://www.pikolinos.com › us-en › vicar-w0v-8610 I always get compliments on them when I wear them, especially when I wear them with lace-topped socks and a sundress. (The combo looks better than it sounds, and is great for when I'm doing a lot of walking.) They are so worth the price, as they are THE most comfortable shoe I have ever worn.
I appreciate your encouragement for all to be their best! I think you make a difference for those reading your books, watching your youtube channel, and following your blog. And maybe your influence reaches those beyond your readers. If that reader dresses presentable when they go out into public it inspires me to do the same, too. When I see someone dressed nice out and about I sometimes wonder if she's read your book :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for not saying 'booties', Jennifer, ha ha. I realised I was actually holding my breath each time; can't believe how much that word makes me cringe. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am totally with Deborah and Mimi on the handbags. Everyone is consuming way too much these days. I have three relatively nondescript black bags of various sizes for various functions that I use until they wear out. I see no point in a cupboard full of bags just to be fashionable when I may only use them once or twice. Just someone saying 'I won't buy a new handbag this year' makes my eyebrows raise. I dream of having a budget to buy a handbag I don't really need each year. Even then, I don't think it would make me happy, I'd just be cluttering up my life.
