Welcome back, friends. Today I'm sharing beauty treatments I get but don't really talk about. Now in everyday life, I would normally never discuss this, unless it came up with a girlfriend. But since this is an informational blog, I'm sharing some of the beauty procedures I get so you can figure out if they would be worth it for you to try.
Let's start with the most pressing questions: Have I ever had cosmetic surgery? The answer is no. Have I had any injectables like Botox or lip fillers? Again, the answer is no.
Funny enough the only two "secret" treatments I get have to do with hair.
The first major treatment I have had is laser hair removal. I received my first round of treatments around 12 years ago at Laser Away in Santa Monica. The areas I had treated were upper lip, under arm, and bikini. I did not do legs because the treatment was already extremely costly. Also, the legs cover such a great surface area and I was worried about the pain issue.
I'm not sure what the professional procedure is like today but back then it was very costly and very painful. I had to top off my treatment a few years later after I had my second child. Sometimes hormones after childbirth cause hair growth to return.
Even though the treatments were painful and costly, I am still so happy I did it. A great consideration when determining whether or not to get a costly beauty treatment is this: will it improve your daily life? For me, it eliminated a time consuming and unpleasant grooming ritual and I don't miss it one bit!

The second major beauty treatment we are going to discuss is one that I get on a regular basis: The Brazilian Blowout. You can read more about The Brazilian Blowout in this recent InStyle article.
My hair tends to be frizzy and unruly. I typically blow dry it twice a week, but even so, I still have a "crown of frizz" that frames my face in a rather irritating way. The Brazilian Blowout smooths my hair and takes away the pesky frizz. It lasts around 3 months. It does not make your hair straight like a straightening system, but still allows wave, body, and curl, which is why I prefer it to other frizz fighting treatments.
As for skincare, I have been using an exfoliation peel from Paula's Choice on a weekly basis. This has 25% AHA and 2% BHA. You apply it as you would a mask, leave it on for 20 minutes, and then rinse it off, applying your evening moisturizer. This has been a great addition to my weekly skincare rituals. I tend to avoid using other exfoliants for a few days after this. I have seen an improvement in my skin since using this peel. I highly recommend it.
Let's talk about the beauty treatment I'd like to get... microblading or powder brows. Now whether or not I will ever actually get one of these treatments (they are semi-permanent makeup, after all, which gives me pause) remains to be seen. In the meantime, I am trying to grow out my sparse brows with this Vegamour brow serum.

In Spring I set our table with a vintage set of Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware. To be honest, I never put these away last Spring because we decided to try to keep a bit of Spring in our 2020! One year our little boy was so enamored with our Spode Christmas Tree dishes that he asked if we could use them all year and so we did that for him that year. ๐น ๐ Have some fun with your dishes. :)"NEW* Join The Chic Society on YouTube and become a member of The Daily Connoisseur.

Many years ago, I had my eyebrows tattooed at a tattoo parlor. At first, they were very dark because of the scabs that formed. Luckily, it didn't ruin my face and once they healed, they looked nice. They faded over time and I can't even see the tattoo anymore. But, I'm happy about that. I still can't believe I did that! I'd never do that again. I stopped plucking my brows years ago and have used lash serums that helped them grow and fill in, along with making my lashes longer. Now I can't stand my short, stubby lashes if I stop using a good lash serum, or try a cheap one that doesn't work. I also had an injection to fill in in my number 11 frown lines between my brows because they were very deep from making angry faces so much. I'm very happy with the results, and it has been 3 years now. I also became more aware of when I am frowning and have stopped pinching my eyebrows together to try to prevent that from happening again.
ReplyDeleteI love that! Making angry faces. Lol
DeleteHi, Jennifer, have repeatedly wondered if you would share whatever you use for whitening your teeth.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteYou promote various brands of make up but I’d like to know what you use regularly. You look great and very natural in the videos. Maybe it’s the eyebrows๐
Dear Mary - Thanks for sharing your experience! I have wanted to try a lash serum as well and am eyeing the Vegamour one... I'll let you know if I do in a future blog post.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth- Hello! I do not do teeth whitening. I try to avoid coffee and tea directly on my teeth...
Jorja- I can do a video on this. I wear bareMinerals, Merit, A'DELE, Too Faced, Tarte, etc. If I'm filming I wear a lot more makeup than I would wear in my regular everyday life. On days off I have been loving a very simple minimal routine with MERIT. Thank you!
How do avoid getting coffee and tea on your teeth?
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! What is the piece of music or song title you have playing now at the end of your videos? It's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, first off I love your content, I have read your books and you have enriched my life!
ReplyDeleteThis is random, but I was doing scripture study a couple of days ago and was puzzled yet again by the phrase ‘gird up your loins’ so I decided to google it. I found step by step instructions in drawing form and gained some insight! I then grew curious about the website. I really think you would appreciate it. There’s an article about a man who wore a tie to work for a year and the surprising things that resulted! There is a lot of content about being a gentleman as well. It’s called “The Art of Manliness.” https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/heres-what-happened-when-i-wore-a-tie-to-work-every-day-for-a-year/
Victoria- It sounds silly but I just don't let it touch my front teeth while sipping. You could use a straw...
ReplyDeleteSandy- thank you! I need to ask my editors what the song is. I love it too...
Brooke- Thank you! I will check that out!
Have a wonderful evening, ladies! Thanks for stopping by!

What is the name of the deodorant you and your daughter use! You mentioned honey and lavender & no aluminum. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, We love Native deodorant. Another great brand is Bend Soap Company. ~ Jennifer
