Today I'm sharing my at-home manicure routine with you and trying out Londontown's Gel Genius Base Coat and Top Coat. I also discover a new favorite neutral nail polish, Teatime.
I have found the Londontown shades to last a long time in general, but they are lasting longer with the gel genius base coat. I painted my nails with this Teatime shade and on the 9th day, I took off my polish. I could have actually worn it a few more days, but I wanted to paint them red for a holiday video I was shooting. I find that these polishes last on the nails between 10 days to two weeks.
For my at-home manicure routine, first I cut and file my nails. I like to keep them in a rounded square shape. Then I soak my hands in warm, soapy water for 5 minutes. I then massage in a nice cream. In this video I'm using Bend Soap Co.'s goat milk lotion (use code DC10 for 10% off your order). After the massage, I take nail polish remover and run it on each nail to remove any lotion residue. Then I paint on the base coat, color, and finally top coat.
Doing my nails with a baby in the house always feels like a stealth mission. He could wake up at any moment and I will need to pick him up, so I try to do this right after I've put him to sleep with the hope that I can get a good 20 minutes in to paint my nails and allow them to dry. Who can relate?
Londontown has been so generous with The Daily Connoisseur audience. Use code JenniferS for 25% off your order.
I hope you enjoyed my at-home manicure routine in today's video.

Merry Christmas Jennifer! Your manicure looks beautiful. Like you, I enjoy doing my own manicures and pedicures, though I often go with all natural fingernails. Some people are put off by the thought but the positives are that obviously no appointment is needed and it saves money. With a little practice, it is easy and I find it to be a calming activity. There are two products I love which you might like as well. I have a set of crystal nail files which last forever, are easily washed and do a great job. I also love to use a callous remover to smooth my feet. I use one by Emjoi (Micro-pedi Callus Remover). There are others available which might be just as good. They use batteries or are rechargeable. They come with different textured rollers to easily and painlessly remove any dry or rough skin. Both the glass files and callus removers are available on Amazon. Happy Holly-days to all!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! I do my own nails also, although I don't use polish often, because my nails are weak and sensitive. Londontown sounds great and I like that your polish lasted so long with the base and top coat. The color is exactly what I would choose. I love the more muted shades. Blessings! Robin
ReplyDeleteThat "anonymous" was me! Not sure what happened! xo Robin
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to do any work on your cuticles? Push them back after the soak? No cuticle cream or oil to soften?
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer I love the "teatime" color from London Town but also try the "princess awaits" - it's very similar to "tea time" but has an added touch of shimmer - perfect for the holidays ;-) Merry Christmas to you & your family!!
ReplyDeleteAfter going with naked nails for a couple years, you've tempted me into getting the London Town products. (I also went with the Tea Time.) I like the fact that they leave out a plethora of "nasties" in their formulas.
ReplyDeleteLike FrenchCaliGirl, I also use a glass nail file. And yes, they DO last forever, provided you don't drop them. I also use a Ped Egg on my feet. It does an amazing job of removing calluses.
Hi, I tried to use the discount code for my order of $29 and it said I didn’t qualify. Is there a minimum order?
ReplyDeleteHi ladies,
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting! I'm so glad you like Teatime.
Patricia- there is no minimum for the discount code, you should not have any issues. I would try again and if it still doesn't work, contact Londontown customer service. They are excellent. I'm sorry about that.
Frenchcaligirl- thank you for those recommendations!
Robin- you will love the colors. They are so classy.
DD- for standard, weekly manicures, I don't do cuticle work. I usually put the Dior apricot cream on them once a month or so.
Unknown- I'll have to try Princess Awaits! Sounds beautiful!
Mimi- let us know how you like them!
Thanks for watching ladies, don't forget to use the discount code so you get the 25% off
Love,
Jennifer
