On today's episode of The Clueless Gardeners, we visit my sister and her family to pick avocados.
Now, you'll notice that these avocados look spectacular. They are large and juicy, and I just want to reassure you that we (The Clueless Gardeners) had nothing to do with growing these amazing specimens. (We are clueless after all.)
My sister and brother-in-law were fortunate to inherit these beautiful trees when they purchased their home recently. We all sure had fun picking the avocados and enjoying time together. I hope you also enjoy today's video.
Now as for this picture of Mr. Connoisseur and me...
Would you say we're more Green Acres?
or American Gothic?
What say you?
Thank you for joining us today... See you soon!

:) Amercian Gothic of course:) I love this series. Maybe because I am a Clueless Gardner too :)
ReplyDeleteYou are far too chic for American Gothic, Jennifer! : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful abundance of avocados!
I loved this video today. I have never seen an avocado tree before so for me this was lots of fun to watch. Now, I'm wondering what you will do with all those avocados! When I buy just five in a bag at Costco I have to be very careful or they will over-ripen before we can eat them. I can't imagine how you would best use trees full of them! Thanks for introducing us to your sister's exotic garden. At least it's exotic for this South Carolinian!
ReplyDeleteNeither! You are yourselves. Originals, as we all should strive to be!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE that picture of you and your husband! I must say that I'm on the fence about which way to go...but am leaning toward Green Acres just a little.
ReplyDeleteGuacamole! Wow. Now my husband is going to be jealous. He loves avocados~ In fact, I gave him his anniversary gifts wrapped in avocado-themed gift wrap~ He will be wondering where your sister lives!
ReplyDeleteWarm Best,
Alexandra
Before you even asked, I thought right away that Ben was channeling Eddie Albert there! I really enjoy seeing your family. They are beautiful! Yes, Ben too!
ReplyDeleteCan the avocados be refrigerated until you need them? I can't imagine what you will do with them all if they all ripen at once.
Jeanette from NZ:
ReplyDeleteMimi Gregor - Avocados can be stored in the fridge, but only once they are ripe otherwise their texture is affected (I think they can get a bit stringy).
Lovely post, Jennifer. Nice to see your family. Your sister has an amazing garden!
So much fun everyone has together! I'm drooling thinking about all the avocado toast I could eat! For an easy salad, we also cut an avocado in half and remove the pit and in the space where the pit was, we pour in a small amount of salad dressing and it's an instant salad in its own container! Nodding along with others at your son's priceless "uh-oh" look when he dropped the picked avocados on the ground. That photo of you two American Gothic farmers was priceless...love your mutual and combined sense of humor!!
