Have You Lost Your Passion as an Adult?

We've talked about "adulting" before. And while I really detest that word, there's no denying that being an adult comes with a lot of stress and responsibility. After caring for other people, working, health issues, and crazy schedules, we can lose ourselves a little along the way.

Today we are talking about 5 points with relation to finding your passion in life again. I hope this post prompts you to discover your own long-lost passions. I felt compelled to discuss this with you because I have been pondering these very things in my own life.

I hope you enjoy the discussion in today's video. Thank you to Skillshare for sponsoring this video and being a great patron of The Daily Connoisseur.

Gary D. writes, "My mother taught me to get the easiest and quickest things finished first. ( especially with homework) It gives you a sense of accomplishment and builds momentum."

Gary, there is an opposing argument to everything and it seems your mother's perspective is in contrast with the popular "eat the frog" philosophy. I agree with your mother! Thanks for commenting.

I hope you enjoyed today's video. I look forward to reading your comments on the subject. Have you lost yourself? Recently reclaimed your passions? Let us know.

  1. Thank you for this timely video. So many adults lose their passion as life progresses, and I know I did. I now know that one has to take tine to tend to one's needs and passions. I worked at a very demanding job for 20+ years, and I lost myself. I am slowly gaining a perspective of who I am, and reuniting with my passions. I feel this may be a positive outcome from the pandemic--well maybe for me.

I believe another way people lose their passions is through relationships. I know too many times I let a gent sway me away from my passions, and one day I said no. Okay this may be why I am single, but I feel the solution is to give a partner time to pursue their passions, and they should respect yours. It is also nice when a couple can establish joint passions. It brings balance to the relationship.

  2. Amen! And something I want to add is that it's hard! But if you want it bad enough, you'll make the time for it and you have to fight for it. You will have to sacrifice. And you have to be patient with yourself. During quarantine I decided to teach myself ballet with four kids at home ages 1-8. For me this was radical. I had never taken a dance class. It was hard, but it was worth it! It got me through the winter. Sometimes it was the only thing that I was doing for me. And it was amazing to see how it affected my family in a positive way too. To all those that dare to do something for themselves, I am excited for you and hope you're able to fight for what you need to thrive.
