The Chic Assignment April 2022

Welcome to The Chic Assignment for April, 2022.

The Chic Assignment series is brought to us by The Chic Society, the private membership group on YouTube.  Joining The Chic Society gives you access to my exclusive members-only vodcast, which is published every Friday. I also do one livestream a month or do a Zoom call where we can all visit together and we now have a penpal program! Membership is only $1.99 a month (upper tiers are also available).

Chic Assignment No. 1 Enjoy Minuetto by Luigi Boccherini.  Luigi Rodolfo Boccherini (1743 -1805) was an Italian composer and cellist who influenced the development of the string quartet and who composed the first music for a quintet for strings, as well as a quintet for strings and piano. We are going to listen to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the late Lavtian conductor, Mariss Jansons.

Chic Assignment No. 2
Explore the artwork of Henri Matisse
(1869 – 1954). Henri Émile Benoît Matisse was a French artist, known for his expressive use of color.

La Musique (1939) by Henri Matisse

You can see Matisse's paintings for free on Wiki Art. Let us know which piece is your favorite. We will learn more about Matisse in the mid-month check-in.

Chic Assignment No. 3 Dress up for no reason this month
Something special happens when you decide to dress stylishly for no reason. You are telling yourself that you are special enough to adorn yourself well for everyday life, which, in turn, boosts your self-esteem and self-respect.

Chic Assignment No. 4 Replace a recurring negative thought with one of gratitude
To build on the gratitude and joy we have been journaling so far this year, this month, when you experience a recurring negative thought, replace it with one of gratitude. For example, right before you do the dishes, you might think, "I hate doing the dishes!" This may be true, but stop yourself before you get to the end of the sentence and replace it with, "I am so grateful to have dishes to do." Or some other thought of gratitude. This instantly elevates the experience and brings gratitude to the forefront of our mind, instead of displeasure.

I hope you enjoy The Chic Assignment this month. I look forward to hearing about your experience. Let us know on social media by using the hashtag #TheChicAssignment. Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you on Monday! Love, Jennifer

I looked at Matisse's works and although I can appreciate his later works, my favorites are his earlier works, especially "Maisons À Kervilahouen, Belle Ile".
Thank you for these assignments. I enjoy them thoroughly. I have been "dressing up" each day, which for me means wearing ironed shirts and jewelry with my jeans.
