Cleaning the Entire Bathroom with Just Water | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:44 AM 8 Comments

On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, I'm cleaning our master bathroom... with a twist! I'm using only water and my e-cloths for everything from the counters, to the mirrors, to the bathtub, to the floor.

The e-cloths I use in today's video are the general purpose cloth (for the counters), the glass cloth (for the mirror), the mop head and mop (for the floor), and the new fresh mesh e-cloth scrubber for the bathtub.

Our bathtub was particularly in need of a scrub as I have been using bath oils and masks. I found the scrubber to work amazingly well. I've had the bad experience of having a bath in a tub that was cleaned with a chemical scrubber and felt as though I was soaking in those chemicals. So I really loved cleaning the tub with just water.

e-cloth have generously given us a code: Use code APRILSCOTT for 15% off from April 12-17th for e-cloth

Featured in the video:

Our photo album. I get mine made by Chatbooks and The Daily Connoisseur coffee mug. Also my Jo Malone fragrances.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Maintaining Dignity in Parenting | Know What Angers You

6:30 AM 3 Comments

A few months ago, I did a video on maintaining dignity in parenting. I discussed how I had to interrupt my breakfast and run after my toddler who was gleefully sprinkling pepper all over the living room floor. This made me think about how parenting can sometimes make us act less than dignified.

That video resonated with many people and I heard from so many of you who could relate! I am continuing the discussion in today's video as I talk about maintaining our dignity in parenting by becoming aware of what triggers our anger... which eventually leads to undignified behavior.

I hope you enjoy today's video and that it gives you encouragement as a parent. If you know someone who could use this encouragement, please share this video or blog. I love to connect with you and would love to hear form you in the comment section.

I look forward to continuing to use these methods on a daily basis. Thank you Jennifer for all of your encouragement and empathy."

Combating Stress | My Story | Jennifer L. Scott

6:45 AM 14 Comments

In today's bonus video we are talking about stress: what can cause it in our lives, and practical ways to combat it. When stress gets bad, it can manifest itself in various ways physically.

Some people might get bad skin, some might have other symptoms like eczema or various health problems as I discuss in today's video.

As I deal with stress I am finding what works for me in combating it. I would love for you to watch and join in on the discussion.

Mentioned in the video:
The article on how spending time in nature reduces stress.

We have been playing backgammon with our kids. Playing games are a great way to de-stress. You will laugh, use your thinking skills, and be pulled in with the suspense. Teach your children to play these games too and they can play together when they are bored. My daughters love to play this together and my two-year-old son is interested in learning it. What a wonderful way for the children to spend their time instead of watching TV.

I like to use my rebounder to de-stress at night. Due to my sciatica, I have not been able to rebound for the past few weeks. I am looking forward to picking it up again.

The faux flower arrangement behind me is by Horchow.

I discuss so much more in today's video, these are only the applicable links.

As you know, I occasionally work with sponsors who help to support my channel. I would like to thank

Spring Glowy Le No Makeup Look | CC Cream + Highlighter

6:50 AM 1 Comments

Spring is here and I have enjoyed switching up my makeup routine recently. I like to move to tinted moisturizers and BB or CC creams in the spring/ summer seasons as they are lighter than the heavier foundations I use in the fall/ winter.

I've been testing the Osmosis makeup line, which is available on Amazon luxury and really like it. Their mineral makeup is gluten and paraben free.

I have particularly enjoyed using their CC cream, which blends and melts into the skin. It's great! I also love their highlighter, which I have been using on top of my cheek bones to give my skin a glowy look for spring.

Here is more information on the makeup. The italicized words are the descriptions from Osmosis and my take follows.

Osmosis cc cream in warm Osmosis Colour CC Cream helps you achieve a flawless look without caking on your makeup. UV filters help prevent sun damage while simultaneously diffusing discoloration. Its lightweight, creamy formula features natural color-correcting mineral pigments to even your complexion. This CC cream is great and so easy to use. I find it to be very moisturizing. This gives very light coverage. I have linked my color from Amazon above, but you can also check out the whole range on Osmosis' website.

translucent finishing powder Finishing Powder is a colorless mineral powder to set makeup and help ensure a flawless. Gluten and parabenFree, Talc-free and full of antioxidants for an all-natural approach to mineral makeup. This is a lovely mineral finishing powder.

eye shadow trio in spice berry A compact trio of shimmering eye shadows for easy contouring of the eyes. I chose this to compliment my green eyes and I really like the colors.

eye pencil in brown A creamy eye pencil that is quick-drying, smudge proof, and water resistant for beautiful long lasting wear. This Mechanical Eye Pencil glides on smooth with a bold color variety of colors. I like that this pencil is moisturizing and doesn't dry out.

curling mascara in black Osmosis Curling Mascara utilizes a curved Cobra head brush to deliver a natural curl to the lashes. This mascara is great. I love the curling wand! I would love to see this in burgundy, however.

bronzer in South Beach Osmosis Bronzer is perfect for contouring cheeks, nose, and eyes. Add bronzer to center of eyelid to bring out green, blue or light eye colors. Although I didn't do this in the video, I have been trying the bronzer on my eyelids and it looks great! A fun tip.

highlighting quad Four luminous hues in one convenient palette to light up your complexion. Brilliant and lustrous with vitamin E and Moringa Seed Oil for nourishing benefits. Swirl a blend of all 4 shades or choose individual colors for different areas to provide a luminous glow. This is an excellent highlighter and I like that you have the option to use one color or blend combinations. It provides a very natural hue.

TIP: Each shade of the palette may be used individually.

• BRONZE – Use as a shimmery bronzer or to add a glow to the skin

• ROSE – A pretty, pink poppy blush, use on lower lip to make it appear larger

• PEARL – Apply in the inner corner of the eyes to make them appear brighter, then blend at the top of the cupid’s bow for an enhanced, larger lip

• GOLD – Place in the center of the lid to make the eyes appear larger

blush in summer rose Osmosis Blush is a highly pigmented, all-natural Mineral Makeup offered in a wide range of colors. Gluten and paraben free. I love this pretty blush color and it lasts well on the cheeks.

lip gloss in bare moderate shine Lip Gloss with a sheer tint of color to add a splash of life to the lips for a natural look. Gluten and paraben free. This shade provides a pretty peach color.

On my nails: Londontown Teatime (use code JenniferS for 25% off)

Comment of the Week

Regarding The Chic Assignment for April, Bella the Reader wrote, "Great assignments for this month!! I've been following the concept of "always being presentable" for several years now and I can assure your viewers that once you get used to it, your business casual from work will seem just as comfortable as your yoga pants, and I always feel happier and more productive when I am dressed in my nice clothes, even as you put it, when I am only going to go to the grocery store that day. Thank you for your encouragement to live this way!!"

Bella, yes! I couldn't agree more. When you become accustomed to dressing up on a regular basis, you also become more comfortable in those clothes. You might even find that you feel uncomfortable in sweats because they are not a true representation of your style. Thanks for your great comment.

I hope you enjoyed my ten-item wardrobe fashion show. Which look is your favorite?

The Chic Assignment | April 2019 | Jennifer L. Scott

6:36 AM 16 Comments

Thank you for joining me for The Chic Assignment for April. I am so excited to share this month's assignments with you.

🎵 Listen to Schubert's Ave Maria I have two performances on YouTube that I would like you to watch and listen to this month. The first is Valentina Lisitsa's piano rendition, which is arranged by Liszt. The second is Hauser's masterful cello performance. They will both move your soul.

Here is a bit more on Franz Schubert. Portrait taken from ClassicFM who share an interesting article with 20 facts about the composer.

Schubert wrote his first masterpiece at the age of 17. In 1815 alone, Schubert wrote more than 20,000 bars of music, including nine church works, a symphony, and some 150 songs – including eight in one day in October 1815. He was certainly productive and efficient! My type of person :) We will discuss Schubert more in the check-in later in the month. If you're interested in my favorite Ave Maria album, this is it.

📖 Read poetry by Shelley OK, so he wasn't a model citizen. Percy Bysshe Shelley had a mess of a personal life. He did write beautiful poetry, however, and is one of the most well-known and renowned of the British Romanticists. I read his poem To Night in today's video. Proceed with caution if you read his biography. You might need the popcorn for this one! If you listened to the poem in today's video, you have completed this assignment. If you'd like to read further works of his, check out the book of poetry I share in today's video. This was given to me by my father when I was 15. I love poetry! This portrait of Shelley was taken from this site, which lists many of his works.

👗 Dress up for no reason If you are in the habit of wearing comfy sweats on the days when you don't have anything remarkable planned, step out of your comfort zone one time this month and get dressed up for no reason. I don't mean putting on a ball gown to go to the grocery store, but I do mean wearing that dress you love but never wear or that pretty blouse you adore but are always so worried that you'll stain it so you never wear it (Who has been there?) Report your findings to us.

🌿 Intentional rest As we move toward the end of the school year, many parents are stressed out by all of the hustle and bustle and activities for the children. Let's try and take at least five minutes of intentional rest each day. Ideas are: sitting down with a cup of tea, looking through a beautiful book, reading poetry, chatting with a family member, walking through the garden, soaking in the bath. Just as long as your rest time does not include screens. Let's make our rest intentional. It is the equivalent of dining with no distractions. When you do that you appreciate your food more. When we are intentional about rest, we appreciate our rest time more and get more out of it. We cannot do that if we are "zoned out" in front of the television.

I would love to hear your findings on The Chic Assignment for this month! Thank you for watching today's video.
