Fall Wardrobe Planning | Ten-Item Capsule Wardrobe

7:08 AM 3 Comments

Welcome back to The Daily Connoisseur. Today I am going through my ten-item capsule wardrobe to see what will stay and what will go for Fall.

If you have been following my intermittent fasting story, you know what I've lost some weight in the past year. This has affected my wardrobe as you will see today. I try on several of the garments that I thought I'd be keeping for fall. Many of them simply do not fit anymore.

I go over what will stay and what will go in today's video and discuss my accessories and overall wardrobe strategy for Fall. I hope you enjoy today's video.

This plaid dress from Velvet by Graham & Spencer has been a favorite of mine for three years now.

I'm looking forward to wearing the SKYE Coraline trench Jennifer20 for 20% off as both a coat and a dress again this season. The handbag is by Smythson of Bond Street, a cherished gift from my in-laws.

The SKYE Dezi dress Jennifer20 for 20% off will be brought out for the holiday season as the black velvet houndstooth fabric is perfect for a dark winter.

This plaid skirt by Kate Kasin was so fun to wear last Fall and I look forward to wearing it again this season. Here I'm wearing it with the Everlane cashmere sweater and the Oliver Cabell mules JSCOTT10 FOR $10 OFF

I might be most excited to wear my Thursday Boots Captain boot again. I have them in the shade Old English and Black Matte.
This green corduroy jumpsuit from Velvet by Graham & Spencer will return as well. While this jumpsuit is no longer available, you can find great jumpsuits at Outerknown, Rachel Pally, Nordstrom, and Lulu's

Junhee from Mont Kiji sends me her silk scarves each season. They are designed and made in France and are so beautifully constructed. This silk scarf is called the ButterFlower connoisseur202120 for 20% off (scarves only).

They grey croco Teddy Blake bag TBJENNC30 for $30 off is perfect for Fall. This is a beautifully constructed handbag that wears so well. I love how it looks with this SKYE trench.

Comment of the Week

Sam L. writes, "I stumbled across your blog years ago with the ten-item wardrobe. I bought and read Lessons from Madame Chic back then, and I continue to visit your blog now. Then, I had just left my career as an accountant to be a stay-at-home wife and mother. I was a little lost on how to manage my new life - how to manage a household, nurture a marriage, care for children, present myself as an elegant lady (the style description that most appeals to me) and set personal goals for myself that were outside the "wife" and "mother" roles. I find balance in your blog. I love the variety of posts: wardrobe, meal prep, homeschooling (we also homeschool), cleaning, remodeling, seeking out the arts, etc. It reminds me that as homemakers, we manage a variety of tasks, and that variety adds a richness to life. I particularly like the segment in this post about the prepper pantry. We, too, keep a stash of supplies on hand for any number of emergencies. Some blog posts about prepping can seem very extreme, end-of-the-world-ish. Your presentation, however, exhibits prepping as a useful, practical, homemaking skill. Thank you for sharing all of your ideas with a positive, uplifting energy. With each of your posts I watch/read, I have a new joyful outlook on being a homemaker. All of the work you put into your blog is very much appreciated. "

Dear Sam, Thank you for your encouraging comment. I am so happy that the variety of topics discussed on this blog provide inspiration for your daily life. Thank you for being a part of The Daily Connoisseur!

I hope you enjoyed today's ten-item wardrobe video. I'll see you on Thursday for the talk-through. Let us know how your fall wardrobe is coming along (spring wardrobe for our Southern Hemisphere friends).

Preparing my Fall Capsule Wardrobe + Summer Ten-Item Wardrobe Recap

6:37 AM 0 Comments

It's time to prepare for fall, and today I'm pondering my summer ten-item wardrobe, deciding what will stay and what will go, and setting my sights to fall.

The majority of my core items will be returning for the upcoming fall season... this might prove a disappointment for people looking for new items to consider, however, in today's video, I'm sharing some updates to my extras, including fall shoes, sweaters, and camisoles.

Let's talk about shoes. I'm exploring various fall flats this year and have some high-quality finds to share with you. I know that finding well-made, high-quality shoes is not always the easiest task. The following shoes are from Oliver Cabell, who have generously given us a discount code.

Mules are very popular right now. I like them because they feel like comfortable slippers, keep the toes warm (and hide a bad pedicure... ha!), and look great with jeans. This is the Oliver Cabell dream mule JSCOTT10 for $10 off your purchase.

I love driving shoes. I still have a high-quality green pair from London Sole and never want them to go. My black pair was damaged, however, and I'm so pleased with these Oliver Cabell Monti driving shoes JSCOTT10 for $10 off your purchase. They have an elegant look to them and are so comfortable.

I will also be trying out the beautiful Captain boot from Thursday Boots... more on that soon.

Lilysilk is bringing us this video and I have a new camisole to add to my extras this fall. The Lilysilk camisole in camel will look beautiful with a chunky cardigan, jeans and those mules! Code Daily12 gives 12% off.

And how Cottagecore is this romantic silk blouse? The Lilysilk Sweet Silk Shirt with half-sleeve has a poetic look to it. I love it. I could also picture wearing this as a layer over dresses in the spring. Code Daily12 gives 12% off

The Aspen cashmere wrap is a delightfully soft, lightweight wrap that would be a perfect transitional fall piece. I like that it has "sleeves" and doesn't slide off your shoulder like a blanket.

The Lisbon Traveler is a beautifully structured sweater that has a unique design. It has deep side slits, which would require you to wear a layer underneath. It is not clingy and is in a beautiful color for fall.

The Hampton Duster is a very heavy-weight, high quality cashmere duster. I love the length here and have enjoyed wearing dusters each season. My past dusters have never been the highest quality so I am excited to see how this one performs.

SKYE Genevieve 18K gold pearl earrings Jennifer20 for 20% off

SKYE Risette Dress code Jennifer20 for 20% off

⚜️ Mott & Bow "mom" jeans (the perfect crop) JLS10 for 10% off

⚜️ This is the clothing steamer I use.

I will review these items as the season goes on to let you know how they wear. In the meantime, I will still be wearing my summer clothes as the temperatures here are high! What is the weather like where you are?

I hope you enjoyed today's video.

Julie D. writes, "Beautiful video Jennifer! I made your potatoes gratin that you shared recently and it was amazing! My husband shared the recipe with a friend and I was told their two small children (who normally don't like potatoes) had seconds and thirds! I served ours with pan seared cod with lemon caper sauce and some steamed asparagus. It's definitely a keeper so thanks for sharing!"

Julie, that's wonderful! I love to hear that kids like it too. Thank you!
