Giorgio Armani Sparks Fury, Millennial Dresses like a Victorian + Yoga Pants Bad for Women? 3 Articles on Dress

5:40 PM 8 Comments

Giorgio Armani sparks fury with his comments on fashion advertising, a millennial man chooses to wear Victorian clothes every day, and are yoga pants bad for women? Welcome to a new 3 Articles on the Subject of Dress.

In the first article from The Daily Mail, Italian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani, is put on blast for his critique of the fashion industry. Mr. Armani is concerned about the over sexualization of women in fashion advertising. Unfortunately when he made his opinion known, he also made a rather unfortunate analogy.

Our second article is actually a YouTube video featuring Millennial, Michael Koropisz, who chooses to wear Victorian clothing every day. Mr. Koropisz is a portrait artist who leads an unconventional life. I applaud his originality and love that he dresses in a way that he is passionate about.

And the final article is an opinion piece in the New York Times by Honor Jones. Ms. Jones questions why women wear yoga pants to exercise. She doesn't find them particularly warm or comfortable. Is it for self- optimization? To appear sexy? I'm not sure if either of those options are true, but I must admit to being perplexed as to why women wear them so much. Do you have insight into this?

I would love to know your opinions on each of the articles discussed.

Comment of the Week
Shannon writes, "I've been following you for a lot of years and enjoying every minute. You said a word in your video that struck a cord. "Transition". From clutter to declutter, from large wardrobe to 10 item, from season to season, it's all a transition and a period of growth. In my mind I heard you have 10 items, some extras and that's it. Only today did I realize that's not it at all. Every season you're moving items in and out. It's not a stagnant wardrobe it's actually ever-changing. Wow. That makes me feel better Here in the South we can have 3 seasons in one week. It may be 40 degrees one day and 70 the next so I may have to play a little in "transition" between seasons with my "capsule." So right now I may have a light winter dress one day and a spring dress with a light colored cardigan the next. It's all good. Thank you. BTW I watched your earliest videos and loved noting the transitions in your life...like facials, eyebrow threading, pedicures, etc. Life is always a lovely transition. Thank you Jennifer."

Thank you, Shannon! Yes, it's a wardrobe that flows and the transitions are key. In today's video I'm wearing a spring item. It's the first one I bought for spring and I'm enjoying the transition. Thank you for watching!
