# 10 Item Wardrobe # A.P.C.

Ten-Item Wardrobe Spring 2014

It's finally here! My spring ten-item wardrobe video. I had a lot of fun making this video, as you will see. This wardrobe will take me from now until the end of summer. It is a combination of new and old pieces (some are very old!) and I am in love with it.

This week, you can watch the video, which is set to music and is shot fashion show-style. Take notes, enjoy the show and get inspired to curate your own ten-item wardrobe. Next week's video will be a talk through of all of the pieces so you can see where I got my inspiration, identify the old and new items and understand my thought process when putting this wardrobe together.

So this week, sit back and enjoy the show! If you are unable to see the video above, click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or check out my channel: www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur

And now for a list of items featured in the video.

Please note: because many of the items are older and not purchased this season, I am providing links for the brands, rather than for the specific item. As always, this video is meant to provide inspiration for you. If you like some of the older looks, have fun searching for similar garments in the shops. Everything featured in this video was purchased by me, with the exception of the Wink & Winn handbag, which was sent to me to review in a forthcoming post (it's custom designed by me... very cool and we will be doing a giveaway on the blog!)

Wonderful Video! Thanks, Jennifer! One question...are the flowy tshirts in the "extras" from this season at BP?
Thanks!

Wonderful choices <3
Do you buy your A.P.C online? Or do they sell in the U.S?
Also, if you haven't already, you should take a look at Eric Bompard next time you are looking for a cashmere sweater....they are just dreamy.

Hi Jennifer,

I love your bucket bag and I like your ballet flats! I like my ballet flats too but unfortunately I can't wear them everyday because I believe a thin, flat sole is not that good for my feet. They start hurting after a few hours because it feels like I'm walking bare foots. Any tips? Or do you also switch them up with other, 'better for your feet' shoes? I wish I could only go with ballet flats..ballet flats and ballet flats day in day out.

My '10 item wardrobe' is going well. I've pared down till 11. Though my tiny closet (ikea brimnes closet -two doors) is still too stuffed because I can't store my winter clothes, my sport clothes, towels, bed linen and pj's anywhere else.. but hey...I think it's already amazing that it all fits in my tiny closet!

My 11-item spring/summer wardrobe (I live in the Netherlands so it is not always lovely weather):
- dark blue and light blue jeans
- black airy 3/4 sleeve blouse
- aztec sleeveless blouse
- green ibiza flowy dress
- black white dotted wrap dress
- little black dress
- deep purple wrap dress
- salmon airy dress
- black flower flowy skirt
- olive green skirt

extra's:
navy and black blazer
charcoal and navy cardigan
nautical tee 3/4 sleeve
nautical tee short sleeve
white laced shirt
black basic tee
white basic tee
shoes:
ankle boots
croco ballet flats
all stars low
accessoiries:
a lót of airy scarves
my favourite light brown leahter shoulder bag
wayfarer sunglasses
statement necklace
few waist belts to go with my dresses
cuff bracelet

happy spring!

A really lovely wardrobe Jennifer, I love your choices and will refer to this when our spring comes around.

Huge compliments on the video, the music and production truly excelled.

As usual, everything is perfect! I have one doubt about the shoes. How often fo you buy them? How many do you have? When ots time to throw away? Thank you in advance, and I have to tell you I love your blog, and the book as well! Carol from Brazil

As always, I was looking forward to the reveal of your Spring wardrobe and wasn't disappointed. It looks like you had fun making it, with change of hairstyles, etc.

All your dresses are lovely on you. I think the dress I like best, is still the Rebecca Taylor. It suits you so well.

It's fun to think of spring dressing. Where I am living, I can hardly wait until I can wear capris and flats and lose the heavy socks and tights. It's been a long, tough winter.

I enjoyed the video! I too have little one at home (3) and need to have a comfortable simple wardrobe. I love how quick and easy it is to get dressed in the morning when everything goes well together. Thanks for the amazing idea!

Thanks for the inspiration! The video is great :)

I had a question about the London Sole Driving Shoes- I had looked into purchasing them (in the same color, actually:) but was dissuaded when I read in the description that they are "not intended for everyday outdoor use." Does that mean do not use them for your morning walk through the neighborhood or should you avoid using them outside except for walking to and from the car? Any insight would be appreciated :)

Great item selection! Great music in the video too! Jennifer, did you compose this one?

Thanks for this absolutely terrific video, and with the blog entry I have a complete understanding of how you assemble your capsule wardrobe--this is Very helpful And fun!

I always keep my wardrobe paired down mainly because I want to be able to wear everything that is hanging in my closet, and because too many choices are overwhelming for me and the fun goes right out of getting dressed.

This past week has been a jackpot-week because over at "feather factor" Katherine is blogging about a capsule wardrobe, too. I left the following reply over there, too:

Thanks, Katherine--this is my favorite post of yours ever. It’s had me thinking the last couple of days about something I did a few years ago after reading an article in a magazine or blog--I don’t remember--about creating a capsule wardrobe. It made me think, “If something happened so that I had to start from scratch to create a wardrobe, what would I do, where would I begin?” So, I laid out a plan for myself at that time, and after thinking about it I thought I would post it here.

A couple of “notes”: I’m blonde, I prefer navy to black, I like pencil-skirts and short-jackets/blazers, and I adore pearls; these things and my lifestyle influenced my choices, and this capsule wardrobe should get me through everything from casual to white-tie, at least for a little while. This is what I would buy:

Navy skirt-suit
Cream skirt
Dark blue-jeans
Navy floor-length silk skirt

Navy coat
Red blazer
Cream cardigan

White blouse
Silk t-shirts, 4 total: white, cream, red, & navy

Navy short-sleeve sheath dress

Leopard ballet flats
Navy leather heels
Navy leather boots

Red Hermes Kelly with gold hardware
Navy satin clutch

Red belt
Navy belt

Red leather gloves

Red-Cream-White Hermes silk scarf

No-show underwear in nude
Nude hose

Gold Cartier watch
Akoya 7mm single-strand pearl necklace and 7mm stud earrings
Tortoiseshell sunglasses

I don’t think I’d get tired of mixing-&-matching these pieces for quite a while...

Hello!
Can you tell me if there are any rules that the French follow when it comes to jewellery and hardware on shoes and handbags?
Can they mix?
We ordered our wedding bands and selected white gold. Normally I wear yellow gold, so mixing up is all new to me.

Hi Jennifer, This wardrobe is superbe! It appears to do what great clothes are meant to do ...make you feel happy and confident. Your lip colour here is lovely for spring...would you mind sharing the name with us?

Sara said...

Love it! Can I ask what you layer under sheer tops, like your Equipment blouses? A cami? In white, or do you try to find one that matches your skin tone? I have the worst time solving the "sheer issue." :)

That's Me said...

So much fun! What lipcolor are you wearing in the video? It's so pretty!

I almost bought that red/orange blazer from Zara. I love the back detail. The reds in my wardrobe are more of a watermelon red, so I had to pass it by. Looks great on you, though.

Rita said...

Very nice selection, though I wonder why you have chosen so many pastels, when you look so radiant in the more intense colors. (The mauve-pink jack, though a light color, seems to more saturated, that is a good color for you.)

I love your approach to wardrobe planning and have used it for the last few years. It works! Everything mixes and matches and I save time and money. I recently put my S/S 10 item wardrobe together and I am happy with it. Most items are still in good condition , and my only purchases will be replacements for a few badly worn items - two pairs of shoes, and a couple of pairs of shorts. So once I have bought those, I am also set for summer.
Thank you.

Ladies thank you so much for your amazing and supportive comments! Thank you for sharing your own ten-item wardrobes. I LOVE hearing from you! Next week's video will be a talk through of the ten-item wardrobe that will hopefully answer many of your questions.

To answer a few right now:

Michelle- I buy APC online. Although they do have a store in West Hollywood and NYC

Ashley Diaz- The driving shoes wear really well. I wear mine sometimes on a daily basis. They are truly high quality.

Some of your questions will be highlighted and answered in the next blog post so please keep a look out.

thank you so much! Love your comments and support.

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for helping us by sharing so much of your own personal approach with us. You are very brave. You are so lovely, I'd hesitate to say anything critical. Have you ever considered asking your readers to rate each item of your war robe when you present it? It might be a good learning experience for us all, but I would do it only if invited. Look forward to hearing more about your spring wardrobe on Sunday.

I bought the Zara nautical striped tees - thanks for the fashion ideas!

I just want to say`merci`for this post and video. While I love the idea of a currating a 10-item wardrobe, I have not done it yet, mostly because of my financial situation, but also because I need certain items for my active lifestlye and braving the elements here in the the swiss alps.
Today I went through my three drawers and pulled things out which are not appropriate for the weather, look a bit shabby or just do not inspire me at the moment. I tucked that bag away. (If snow hits, I can just grab what I need out of the bag.)
What a feeling of relief! By having that space cleared, I could see that actually my wardrobe is not all that bad. One thing needs mending and another needs new belt, but with a bit more time and attention, I think I'm on my way to 'looking presentable always' and being happy to be so well dressed! Thank you for sharing your knowlege and inspiring us to live more beautiful lives.

Hi! Lovely picks! How is the sizing of the APC Nautical "Suzie" dress? What size do you have and how is the fit?
