Intermittent Fasting Weight Loss | 5 Surprising Observations

6:37 AM 4 Comments

I've been following the 16:8 method of intermittent fasting for 20 months now and have noticed some surprising observations. I'm sharing those with you in today's video.

Disclaimer: This video is intended for entertainment purposes only. If you are interested in trying intermittent fasting please consult your doctor first.

The first observation: I am not hungry first thing in the morning. When you begin intermittent fasting, you think you're going to wake up starving since you fasted after dinner and through the night, but I have found the opposite to be true.

The second observation: Long-term intermittent fasting makes you want to eat healthful foods. Because intermittent fasting is about when you eat rather than what you eat, some people think they can eat junk food during their eating window. This might happen some days, but generally, I find that my cravings have altered and now I crave really clean meals.

The third observation: Because you clean up your diet significantly, you might lose more weight than you anticipated losing. This can be good or bad, depending on your unique situation. I have strangely lost a few more pounds this month, going from 116 lbs to 112 lbs without changing anything in my routine (for context, I am 5'5 1/2") My doctor recommend I add more healthy fats back into my diet: nuts, whole eggs, avocados, dark chocolate, fatty fish, etc.

The fourth observation: Your skin might improve. I'm very happy with my skin lately and I am not sure if it is because of intermittent fasting, but my skin is the healthiest it's been my whole life.

The fifth observation: Intermittent fasting might alter your eating habits dramatically. This can be good or bad, depending on your situation. Because I have stopped snacking after dinner, I am no longer able to eat late at night without getting a stomach ache. Occasionally we will go out to dinner or eat a late meal with family and friends and my body lets me know it's unhappy. All these points are worth weighing before you decide to embark on intermittent fasting.

Ashley writes, "Your meals always look so satisfying. I absolutely love that you give yourself a dessert daily. I also love a sweet treat in the afternoon. I've also implemented eating dinner pretty early (during the 5 PM hour) and I really am not hungry for the rest of the night, but I do go to bed pretty early so that helps."

Hi Ashley, thank you! I have to have dessert every day. Teatime is a big moment of pleasure and respite for me. I'm so happy you enjoy the videos. Thank you for watching!

Intermittent Fasting 18-Month Update | The Results are In

5:52 AM 3 Comments

Six months have passed since I did my Intermittent Fasting one year update and I have so much more to share with you. I'm dishing on all of the positive changes I'm seeing in my health after adopting intermittent fasting for the past 18 months.

Disclaimer: Please consult your doctor before trying intermittent fasting, especially if you are currently taking medications. Intermittent Fasting is not advised for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The last time I gave you an update, I shared that I lost 29lbs through intermittent fasting. When I reached that weight, I no longer wished to lose any more, so I made a few changes. Mainly, I introduced cream back into my morning coffee, which I was previously drinking black. I was curious about whether the weight loss would plateau or if I would continue to lose weight. I'm happy to say that the most I ever lost was one more pound and I have happily plateaued at my current weight.

Everyone will have different results with intermittent fasting and my results might not necessarily be your results. I have also seen major improvements to my health in other areas too. I used to suffer from chronic sinus infections, which contributed to an overall puffy effect on my face, as you can see in this "before" picture.

I am not sure if there is a correlation, but my chronic sinus infections have ceased since I began intermittent fasting and you can notice the swelling and inflammation has left my face as is evidenced in this "after" picture:

You can also see the weight loss dramatically in my old clothing, which used to fit me quite snugly.

Overall, I am very happy with doing the intermittent fasting 16:8 method. It has become a way of life for me. In today's video I share details about all of the results I've noticed.

I also answer many of your questions. If you have further questions, please leave them for me in the comments and I can potentially address them in a follow-up video.

Comment of the Week

Lynn from SoCal writes, "Hi Jennifer, your cleaning videos always make me want to clean. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have been struggling with knee pain and fatigue lately so the cleaning has been put on the back burner (luckily, I live alone so only I have to see the dirt).

Under normal circumstances when I struggle to get the motivation to clean, I put on some fast-paced music (or even Bach's Cello Suite No 1 in G Major - this always gets me going)and mix myself a cocktail. For some reason, a cocktail always makes cleaning more fun!"

Hi Lynn, I hope your knee pain subsides soon! I agree with the music and the special treat! I have never cleaned with a cocktail, but it sounds fancy!

I hope you enjoyed today's video. If you have any questions about intermittent fasting that you'd like me to address in a future video, please leave them in the comments. Have a wonderful weekend.
