The Search for my Signature Scent Ends (for now)

I've really enjoyed doing this mini series on The Daily Connoisseur. Over the past few months I have sampled a lot of fragrances and learned a lot about my tastes, preferences and the various phases I go through depending on the season and what mood I am in.

And I am happy to report that I've made the decision on what my new signature scent will be. Drumroll please....

My new signature scent is Bvlgari Rose Essentielle

If you remember this perfume gave me a favorable impression from the very beginning and several of you readers actually recommended it to me. It is heady, aromatic and distinctly rosy (which is my favorite note) and brings me to exotic places every time I wear it. In short, it is simply delightful and for now I am loving it as my signature scent.

I say 'for now' because I have become so entranced with fragrance that I will forever be on the look out for new and sensational scents, and who knows what I may find down the road?

I also have to say that along with purchasing Bvlgari Rose Essentielle on my journey over the last few months I also picked up small vials of Jo Malone Red Roses (I couldn't help it) and Grapefruit. Two delightful scents for summer.

This isn't to say, of course, that I don't still love my beloved Stella. I shall return to her as well every now and then.

So there you have it. Thank you for joining me on this journey and thank you to all of you for your wonderful recommendations through the process...

I would love to know, what is your current signature scent? Let me know in the comment section or if you feel inspired do a video response to my above video and show me your signature scent!

I'm so curious now to experience the olfactory benefits of this fragrance! I love that you continued this journey. Your daughter will come to recognize, at least for now, you by this scent. I think I mentioned before that Coco (my Oct. through March scent) and Coco Mademoiselle (my March through October scent)are my signatures and have been (at least Coco) for over a decade. My kids, ages 14 and 18, still say that smells like Mommy. They have associated over the years those scents with me and that is such a wonderful memory to have:) My maternal grandmother always wore dabs of Chanel No. 5 and my paternal grandmother was a Youth Dew lady...I remember both so vividly when I smell each of those fragrances!

I don't think of myself as having a signature scent, but truth be told, if a friend smelled L'Air du Temps or Opium, they would think of me. :) Those have been my two "default" fragrances whenever I can't decide on what to wear.

Coco Mademoiselle. Chanel fragrances are the only perfumes that seem to stay true to their scent on my skin.

My signature scent is Chanel 19.

Mine is Chanel No. 5, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I absolutely love that you took so much time in researching your choice, and instead of going with the latest trend you stayed true to yourself and stuck with your most personal favorite note.

Bon travail! xoxo

Jen, your signature scent sounds lovely. I'm with Tina. I sometimes get a little tired of having the same fragrance for the past 20 years, and am often tempted by new ones, but what has kept me from switching is the same thing Tina said, I want my girls to grow up and associate that smell with me. I just love that idea. Totally off topic -- I adore that sweater/top you have on. Is it navy? I love, love, love the neckline. Just my style. Can you tell me about it? Thanks
xoxo K

Hello ladies- I'm sorry I took so long to respond to your comments. I've enjoyed every single one! And I love hearing about your signature scents... thank you for sharing yours with us!

Kristi- What I am wearing in the video is actually a dress- it's a royal blue jersey dress by Velvet that I've had for a few years. I love all dresses by Velvet- they are so well made. I got mine at revolveclothing.com Hope that helps!

I hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week ahead! xo

Jennifer, hi! I've been reading your blog for some time but this is the first time I've ever posted.

You said you will forever be on the lookout for new and sensational scents, so I just have to let you know about one you might like to try, if you haven't already met it: Guerlain "Idylle." I was on a hunt for a new signature perfume, and like you I was specifically searching for a rosy fragrance. I had tried and rejected very many when I happened upon Idylle.

It's a rose chypre, based on the Bulgarian rose. It starts out with the prettiest burst of florals including jasmine, lilac, freesia and lily of the valley, and as that lovely bouquet subsides (it doesn't last long), the Bulgarian rose kicks in, supported by the warmth of musk and patchouli, but both added with such delicacy that even my very acute nose cannot detect the individual notes. All I can smell is a heavenly rose, warm and elegant, and somehow quite magnificently understated ... Guerlain's description refers to "the scent of cashmere on the skin," and that, for me, really captures the essence of the fragrance.

(I wouldn't share this with just anyone, but you've given me so much through your blog, I want to give you something back!)

I love this fragrance, I have the mini bottle. The rose scent is so naturally beautiful like a rose garden with bushes of berries in the mix. Thank you for sharing, great post. :)
