# How to Live Well

My New Year's Message To You

Happy New Year 2014!

I hope you had a great holiday with your loved ones. I had such a wonderful break. I got a much needed rest and caught up with so many family members I haven't seen the whole year. It was truly fabulous.

In January 2013 we talked about the tipping point to changing how we live. No longer content with the status quo, we have gone searching for a path in life that is teeming with light and that brings us closer to who we really are.

Continuing on this path, my New Year's message to you is simple. I am focusing on this philosophy this entire year and I hope that you join in with me:

It's not what you do, but how you do it.

I'll repeat that again...

It's now what you do, but how you do it.

It's a concept that is explored in Lessons from Madame Chic, one that I will continue to explore on this blog and one that is even further discussed in my new book that will be out at the end of this year.

It's not what you do, but how you do it.

This year let's set aside the negative thinking, let's work on ourselves from the inside out and let's enjoy what we're doing, no matter what it is we are, in fact, doing. Let's change our perceptions and most important, LET'S HAVE FUN!

Thank you for joining me this year on the Daily Connoisseur. I just know it's going to be a great year...

♚ We will be starting our Untethered Soul book club in February. Be sure to pick up or check out a copy so you can join in on the discussion.

I am featured in France's L'Express newspaper, in an article about the feminine ideal of American women. The article is in French, but you can likely translate it via google translate.

Happy New Year, Jennifer!
Yes - great message. Forget complicated resolutions - this one idea can make an impact on all areas of life. I do enjoy your 'pep talks' and attitude to life. I found you via Madame Chic (which popped up when I was looking for style books on Amazon, as last year I got into sewing again after a 28 year break!) and agree with pretty much all you said there. I'm even thinking more about some of the things you say which I did not immediately agree with (I am not really a 'facials' kind of person but now considering buying a Clarisonic!)...
Anyway, thank you for all your efforts and clear thinking on so many things. Although I'm in my 50s I am still happy to find helpful tips for how to live well - you think I'd have it sussed by now but... who does?
Have a great 2014!

Happy new year to you too! Am busy reading 'The Untethered Soul' to try and be ready for February's book club so I don't have much time for commenting :) I've just had a glorious summer break over new year and have been thinking a lot about mindfulness and how it helps me in every corner of my life - work, mothering, housekeeping etc. my resolutions this year are about finding myself again after 8 years spent having 3 children. It's easy to feel a little lost in a sea of sleeplessness, nappies, feeding, playing, dealing with the needs of others... I super love my children but I also want to be 'me' and I want to find a healthy balance this year. Looking forward to joining your journey this year too. Lovely to see you going from strength to strength. Jane xx

Bless your heart, Jennifer. Bless you for your bravery, to just put yourself out there and share your thoughts so fearlessly is an inspiration. We all have within us everything we need. Except the inspiration that comes from trusting ourselves. You do. Thank you for the fun you have put back into my daily routine that comes from just remembering to pay attention. Bravo, brave girl. I will be following your adventures in 2014 and delighting in your journey (and of course, following your lead).
