Favorites May 2017 + Reija Eden Jewelry GIVEAWAY

UPDATE: CONGRATULATIONS to Marija Charlton, who has won the Reija Eden Jewelry giveaway.

Marija, please contact me with your details and I will ensure your jewelry is sent to you. Thank you to all who have entered! And thank you to Reija Eden Jewelry for offering such a generous giveaway.

Happy Memorial Day. Today we are giving thanks to our veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We honor you and thank you!

In today's favorites video, I'm sharing some of my favorite finds for the upcoming summer season. I'm also doing my very first YouTube giveaway on my channel! I'm giving away a necklace and a bracelet from Reija Eden Jewelry. Reija Eden is a fan of both The Daily Connoisseur and the Madame Chic books, and she contacted me with the wonderful idea of doing this giveaway.

The winner of the giveaway will win:

Reija Eden Sparkly Rose Gold Raw Sapphire Necklace
The raw sapphire necklace is made with hand wire wrapped tiny raw sapphire stones and 14K rose gold filled chain. The necklace is a beautiful everyday piece and will instantly dress up any outfit. The grey, sparkly raw sapphires are combined with rose gold for a unique combination that is feminine and modern. The necklace is designed to let your inner beauty shine.

Reija Eden Amazonite Gemstone Essential Oil Beaded Bracelet

The amazonite gemstone bracelet features genuine amazonite gemstones and is designed to be used as an essential oil diffuser bracelet. The amazonite gemstones have naturally occurring variations making each bracelet unique. No two bracelets are exactly the same due to the variation in the hues of the stones. The black lava beads can be diffused with essential oils for aromatherapy on the go. I used my doTERRA frankincense oils in them. Just use a drop or two of your favorite essential oil on the bead and enjoy aromatherapy while you wear the bracelet. Amazonite gemstone and lava beads are said to have healing properties making the bracelet a great accessory to wear during times of stress and when needing calmness.

Reija Eden Jewelry was founded in 2008 in effort to provide beautifully handmade jewelry that also makes a difference while helping women look and feel more beautiful and inspired. The company is centered around kindness and compassion and being environmentally conscious. Reija Eden jewelry pieces have been featured in the Glamour magazine as well as on the TV show SIX. Her designs draw inspiration from her Scandinavian roots, modern architecture, runway fashion and nature. Reija is also very passionate about holistic health and recently started designing essential oil diffuser bracelets as a request of her customers. They have become an instant best seller with the amazonite gemstone bracelet being the most popular design. Reija Eden jewelry pieces are designed for today’s modern woman who is balancing the hectic everyday life while wanting to look put together and be ready to take on the challenges.

And now on to the Favorites:

Teavana Passion Tango Iced Tea This was the drink I had in the hospital after giving birth to our son and I've really loved it ever since. It's a really refreshing, non-caffeinated iced tea that tastes great without sugar.

HSI Argan Oil Thermal Heat Protectant Spray I've been looking for a heat protectant for some time now and I really like this one.

Amope Foot File I do my own pedicures, and this foot file really helps to remove the dead skin from your heels. I use it on dry skin and then lather with cream.

Carrot Top Paper Shop Jane Austen Mug I adore Jenny Williams and her etsy shop. Her new Jane Austen mug is so darling and would make a fantastic gift for any Jane Austen fan!

The Adventures of The Wilderness Family Trilogy
It's hard to find wholesome family movies that aren't crude and dumbed-down. This trilogy from the 1970s is truly good old-fashioned fun!

News
Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic has now been released in Japan, along with the paperback edition of Lessons from Madame Chic. Thank you to the Japanese readers for your incredible support of my books! The cover is by Annika Wester, Translated by Akiko Kansaki and published by Daiwa Shobo.

Comment of the Week
Regarding The History of Makeup post, Julia G writes: Thank you for reviewing this book! To the best of my knowledge as a former history teacher, the fixation of women aspiring to have fair skin was based on economics. Namely, if you were fair skinned, it meant you spent your time indoors and did not work outdoors where your skin would get tan from the sun. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I started using Jergen's Natural Glow because I am so pasty living in Alaska. It makes me look healthier, I think. The grass is always greener, right? ;-).

Hi Julia, I enjoyed reading your perspective as a former history teacher. I always find the trends in beauty over long periods of time to be very fascinating!

I hope you enjoyed my favorites today and that you will enter my giveaway for the jewelry. The giveaway is open worldwide so all can enter! See you over on the YouTube channel.

hi Jennifer,

Been a long time admirer of yours and read all your books which have been a wonderful and powerful motivation in my life. Highly recommend you to all my friends and been actually speaking about you and your nice blog post (and recommending your mini-steamer by the way) to a life-long friend in Düsseldorf this weekend. I hope she will find your posts just as inspiring as I do, they definitely triggered some changes in my life for which I am very thankful.
The giveaway items are just beautiful, especially the necklace, decided to enter as well.
Here are my top three favourites this summer:
- the Fitbit Alta HR which I received as an "in-advance" gift for mother's day and my own birthday combined :-) from my daughter and husband. I love it because it motivates me to move and it has put my housework routine in a whole new light. At the moment I am a home-stay mom whilst looking for a new job and have been dreading I do too little exercise. The Fitbit bracelet has showed me that my own housework routine provides me with sufficient "move-around" time and since then I am even more motivated to "get on with those tasks" :-)
- the other product I love is the "Feeling Younger" Skin Tint from Lush Cosmetics. I am not sure you can get these in the US, this is a UK-based brand that makes wonderful, natural cosmetics. This skin tint in particular is great for the summer and provides a light bronze shimmer which you can use to highlight your tan, your cheeks, your eyes or disguise/cover the dark circles. It's light, it's handmade and chemical free and they don't test on animals
- and the last product has to be Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I have been looking for an "essential-oils" based moisturizer or serum for the night for a long time and have not been pleased with many I have previously used until I came across this one. Again, it's light, don't find it oily and my skin does look much healthier since I use it. As a bonus, it has lavender oil inside and since I use it at night I get to smell the calming scent of lavender whilst I sleep as well.
All the very best, keep up the inspiration and wishing you best of success always, Cristina from Switzerland :-)

Thank you for the family movie suggestion - I wholeheartedly agree about most of the current movies. We've been enjoying several oldies lately, including Little House on the Prarie and Kevin Sullivan's Road to Avonlea. My. It's especially loved Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson movie. We all laughed so at the youngest sons sense of adventure!

Thanks for the suggestions. On another note. I love the color of your cardigan. The ones I find are ivory or camel nothing in between. Where did you get it?

Hello Jennifer,

Thank you for your favorites and for the opportunity to enter the drawing for the giveaway. F.Y.I., we are subscribed to your channel under my husband's name: Mark Campanelli. We are definitely going to try the "Wilderness Family" movies. We are always looking for family-friendly films. I will also look for the Amope pedi perfect. It sounds like what I need! Thanks!
Our favorite tea is Bigelow's Fruit & Almond Herbal Tea. It's difficult, if not impossible, to find in stores. You have to order it by the case from the Bigelow website, but it's worth it. To complete our tea party, we adore Bonne Maman fruit preserves, and we love Trader Joe's Chocolate Almond Horns. These are chocolate dipped almond macaroons. They are scrumptious, and they don't contain butter or flour.
I am a huge Jane Austen fan. As such, I enjoyed the modern re-telling of "Pride & Prejudice" called "Eligible" by Curtis Sittenfeld. It was very interesting to see how the author tweaked the plot and the characters to make them work in our decade. It's a bit risque, as part of the updating involves making the characters more sexually active. And the character Lydia has to do something more unusual than just live with a man in order to arouse her family's concern in this day and age. I recommend this book as a fun romp!

Warm best,
Alexandra Campanelli

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you and Reija Eden Jewelry for hosting the giveaway. I don't see an option on the YouTube channel to leave a comment. Am I overlooking it?
Thank you for your help,

I have a feeling I may have watched The Wilderness Family during the 80's, when I was a kid, living in Papua New Guinea. We had a video player and borrowed the tiniest TV (about a 20cm square), and perched on the end of my parent's bed to watch it. Such were the days of having no TVs!!! And I have no idea why we had a video player but not TV to watch those videos!!!!

Hey, Jennifer, here are a few of my favorites : Sappo Hill fragrance-free oatmeal soap. It is wonderful for my face, keeps it clear because it's just mild enough yet strong enough to keep a good balance. Second, I love Trader Joe's Irish breakfast tea. It is hearty and surprisingly cheap! Third, Burts bee's lip balm only in original and honey flavor, here's why: only those two kinds list bee's wax as the first ingredient, making or a nice, thick coating balm which "waxes" my lips nicely.

Summer favorites.... Diana Kralls new album Turn Up the Quiet. She will be performing this upcoming weekend here in Wisconsin. Beyond excited. Peonies are in full bloom here in the Midwest. A sure tell sign Spring has sprung finally! Farmers markets- freshness of food and the selections makes meal planning so enjoyable. And the comradery of local venders after a long cold winter, absolutely wonderful. As simple as these may seem they bring so much joy!

Summer favorites- Caudalie divine oil- it is light, nourishing for my skin and smells wonderful; iced green tea with a splash of lemonade; and running along the Chicago lakefront. The weather is finally nice enough to be outside and enjoy Lake Michigan!

Hi Jennifer!

My top 3 favorites right now are:

1. A tiny straw fedora for my 1 year old son! He has very light hair, and it helps keep the son off of him (along with looking very stylish!;-)
2. Neutragena Body Oil for using after my showers or bath--it has a light sesame scent and makes my skin feel divine!
3. White pepper. It brings out the flavor of homemade fried rice SO well, it's game changing!

Happy spring!

So many great lessons! You will love the uncluttered home of the Cuthberts. Such a beautiful show visually and in content!

I guess commenting here counts as commenting on the video?...

1. I'm currently enjoying a flower arranging class that I'm taking online.
2. Having fresh flowers from my yard in my home. They make me smile.
3. Reading through some old journal entries and being reminded of things I had completely forgotten about!

Hi! Love your blog!
My three favorite things right now are: having new puppy in the home, learning how to sew my own dresses, and reading the book Adorned by Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth.

I recently discovered the Carrot Top Paper Shop and love Jenny's items too--so original! Also, I grew up seeing the Wilderness Family movies, and years ago we bought the videos for our children. Those movies (along with Haley Mills and Don Knotts movies) have been staples for our Friday Family Movie Nights for a very long time. Great suggestions!

Hi Jennifer! I love that passion tea from Teavanna too. I get it iced at Starbucks in the afternoon when I want something without caffeine.

My favorites right now are

1. Papyrus cards - for mother's day I purchased cards for my grandmothers and mother at the Papyrus shop. It was so much fun to pick them out. Each one is like a unique work of art. Worth the extra postage.

2. SUGARFIX by Baublebar (for Target) - I have been admiring jewelry from Baublebar but for now it's out of my price range. I was excited that they did a collaboration with Target so I could get something in the same style without going over my budget.

3. Essie nail polish "imported bubbly" - this is described as a "luxurious golden beige" but it looks a little pink to me. It reminds me subtly metallic "mademoiselle" shade (which is my other favorite Essie nail color). Good for evening wear. It matched the sugarfix earrings :)

Hi Jennifer, I have been following your blog for quite some time now, but this is my first time commenting.
My top three are as follows:
1. Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balm in "Rose". Moisturizes my lips while adding a lovely hint of color.
2. La Roche Posay Anthelios Cooling Water-Lotion sunscreen. I used to carry all kinds of La Roche Posay products back from Ireland (where I grew up) every time we visited there. Now the brand is available at Target! Yay!
3. My Yeti tumbler. Keeps my tea hot for hours during our long Minnesota winters, but works equally well during the summer to keep my iced coffee cold!

Jennifer,
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway offer & your suggestion for family friendly movies! My sister loaned me those exact 3 movies ages ago & I completely forgot about them! They will be making it into our family movie night soon! Some of my current favorites The Honest Company Face & Body Lotion. (found at Costco!) I have been using it for my face lotion & it works wonders! Also loving my L.L.Bean Cork Strap Sandals in black. They work wonders for walking miles with no blisters! The last of my "summer"favorites has to be The Truth Project by Focus on the Family. My husband & I hosted a small group study of this DVD series years ago & have now started watching it with our 12 & 8 year old ( our 8 year old son understands more of the biblical truths than the rest of us!) If you want to see just how your views line up with biblical truth I highly recommend it. As always, thank you for your continued lady like grace, honesty, & whit. Such a ray of sunshine in a very negative & manner-less world. ~R
