My favorite look was this white lace Alexander McQueen dress.

Comment of the Week

Tonya writes, "I am so grateful to have found your channel. This last year has just put me over the edge with the pajama pant culture and bigger than life self centered rudeness. For a year now I have been on a mission to live my life as chic as I possibly can and to be overly kind to those whose paths I cross. What I love about you is your genuine calmness and your monthly assignments. I even ordered the book The Secret Garden to read (I have never read it). The past two days I have filled my home with delightful pieces of Luigi Boccherini and I have been studying him every night. The assignment on the painting artist, kept my attention for hours and I am looking forward into diving into more details about him and his artwork. I even pulled out some heirloom china and had a cup of tea yesterday. I also pulled down my stemmed glass wine glasses from the top shelf of my cabinet and put away the tacky acrylic stemless wine glasses, I instantly felt more chic. Your content is so wonderful, please keep it coming. Lots of love to you💕"

Tonya, I was so thrilled to read your testimony. I hope you enjoy The Secret Garden... it's my all-time favorite!

Niki S writes, "Greetings from Greece! I'm so grateful for your channel. Your videos have inspired me to start delighting in the mundane and the repetitive tasks of a stay at home mom Then I read your books and was deeply touched by your ideas. I'm starting to move more slowly and mindfully, to cultivate my poise. For the first time in years I am driving a car (I had been too scared to even try for more that 15 years!). I'm wearing nice clothes that fit me well, I listen to clasicam music, and I have even established the ritual of afternoon tea with my husband and 1 year old baby -in my grandmother's china no less! All this is to say that I feel very different, more empowered and confident. My life has been much more enjoyable. Keep up your great job!"

Niki, thank you for your kind and encouraging comment. I'm so happy that the books have inspired you. Please keep us updated!

The Duchess of Cambridge's Royal Tour Outfits + An Inappropriate Sweatshirt & Wearing Dresses Daily | 3 Articles on Dress

6:24 AM 18 Comments

For this installment of 3 Articles on Dress, we are looking-back on the Duchess' Pakistan Tour outfits, discuss a controversial sweatshirt worn by a fifth grade teacher, and learn how wearing dresses for one week influenced a busy mom.

I really enjoy this series on dress and today's articles are varied and interesting.

In today's video I'm wearing a silk scarf by Mont Kiji (designed by a Daily Connoisseur reader!) code connoisseur gives 20% off, Everlane cashmere sweater, and pearl earrings by Ana Luisa (code Jennifer10 for $10 off). connoisseur gives 20% off.

👑 Town and Country shares The Best Photos from Kate Middleton and Prince William's Royal Tour of Pakistan The royals are undertaking a five-day tour of the south Asian country, by CHLOE FOUSSIANES

The first article shares all of the Duchess of Cambridge's looks form her Pakistan Royal Tour. My favorite was the emerald green evening dress by Jenny Packham. Which look was your favorite?

😬 Our second article: Teacher under fire for wearing sweater with controversial message on Columbus Day by Justin Chan

A Michigan teacher came under fire for wearing a sweatshirt with a controversial message on Columbus Day, WXYZ reports.

Emma Howland-Bolton, a fifth-grade teacher at Clippert Multicultural Magnet Honors Academy in the Detroit Public Schools Community District, walked into school on Monday wearing a sweatshirt that read, "Columbus was a murderer."

"I wanted to wear this shirt to spark discussion," she told the station.

A school administrator took notice of the message and asked her to take the sweatshirt off.

"I was informed that my shirt was my opinion and I countered with it is a fact," the teacher explained.

What do you think about this story? I would love to know your thoughts!

👗 Daily Connoisseur Emmie sent me this article from Romper: I Wore Dresses Every Day For A Week & The Reactions Surprised Me by Gemma Hartley

Gemma was accustomed to wearing leggings and jeans every day and then decided to try something radical: wearing dresses for an entire week. Her results will surprise you! (Or maybe they won't :) )

I would love to know what you think.

I hope you enjoy today's video.

Velvet Padded Headbands & Velvet Hair Bows | Duchess of Cambridge

6:04 AM 7 Comments

Hello Daily Connoisseurs,

In today's video I'm trying out a hair accessory trend that has recently been embraced by The Duchess of Cambridge: velvet headbands and hair ties.

While I am still suffering from postpartum hair loss and the awkwardness that comes from the regrowth, I am still enjoying doing my hair and wearing a new hair accessory trend that is right up my alley.

The Duchess of Cambridge has recently been sporting several velvet hair accessory looks and I adore them! They are ladylike and playful and a wonderful nod to girlhood.

Let's start with the velvet hair tie look. This is a very chic and accessible ladylike look that anyone could replicate.

I have found two different styles on Amazon for affordable prices.

The first option is this velvet scrunchie with rabbit ties (12 pack). The wire in the tie allows you to manipulate the bow in whatever way you please. I have found a pack on Amazon that comes with multiple scrunchies in varying colors.

The second option is this velvet scrunchie with the optional removable bow (this is a six piece set with different colors). This bow is much larger and is similar to the one the Duchess is wearing in the picture. This one also comes with many colorful hair ties in the same multi-pack. I have been loving this hair accessory. It is my favorite!

Next, let's explore velvet headbands. This is a more daring look as these headbands rise up quite high on the head. But I believe, worn correctly, these headbands would make stunning and, yes, regal statements for a special event.

Have a look at how both Catherine and Pippa like to wear their headbands...

In today's video I share how to wear the headband with a half up half down do...

As well as an updo. This would be perfect to wear to a special event.

I hope you enjoy today's video. What do you think of the velvet hair accessory look?

Comment of the Week
On last week's Homemaker's post, Anon writes, "Jennifer, What a beautiful video! You continue to be such a blessing and I do so appreciate you. :-)
My mom often talks about a great-aunt who lived in a farmhouse in the country. She describes the swept floors, clean kitchen, nicely made quilted beds, sheer curtains on the windows, and neat walk-in closets upstairs. Although my mom was very little at the time, five or six years old, she often says that her house was one of the nicest she had ever been in. Clean, comfortable (obviously not trendy or ornate) but so welcoming. Even though I never met Aunt Louise, I can see her and her home in my imagination and she is always an inspiration to me."

Dear Anon, I loved your comment. I wish we could all interview your Aunt Louise. I'm happy your mother had such precious memories of her!

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed these hair tutorials. Would you ever wear velvet hair accessories? I'll see you next time for the Chic Assignment for August!

Things Daily Connoisseurs Say | Jennifer L. Scott

6:33 AM 28 Comments

"There's nothing here to KonMarie. Don't you know I have a ten-item wardrobe?" OK, so you might not have ever uttered that phrase, but in today's video, Things Daily Connoisseurs Say, you might find some other phrases you've been known to say.

I had a lot of fun creating this skit, which is a parody of our Daily Connoisseur channel, but also encapsulates so much of what we talk about every day. I hope today's video gives you a good chuckle. If you ever find yourself saying these lines, you are most likely a Daily Connoisseur!

The apron I'm wearing in the video was a gift from my mother-in-law. I love it. So pretty!

I would love to know... which phrase resonates with you the most?

At Home with Madame Chic in Poland...

Daily Connoisseur Testimonial
Jane H. writes, "I've been slowly trying to incorporate Madame Chic's wisdom into our household (recently married couple in early 30's). It's funny, because yesterday I was procrastinating writing a huge paper for school and cleaned the house for most of the day. For half of the day I wore pajama pants and a college T-shirt. I was listening to an audiobook and then your YouTube videos as I cleaned, and realized that I really should wear actual clothing. We rarely have people over, but its been my habit that I just wear ugly, comfortable but definitely not presentable clothing while at home- so that even if FedEx knocks, I would be too embarrassed to open the door. Why would I continue with this behavior? So, I simply put on a nice t-shirt and some shorts, nothing fancy, but something you can be seen in outside. I later even donned an apron while cooking. My husband came home and pleasantly laughed that I appeared domestic. This morning instead of wearing pajamas or a dressing gown I braided my hair and put on a summer dress (I live in FL, and it will be mid 80's today). Again, nothing fancy, but I feel good about myself. I will say that it takes some courage to get out of your comfort zone. Thank you for being a motivation and inspiration."

Jane, how wonderful. I love your story. I went through a similar mind-shift and it's been life-changing!

Comment of the Week
On last week's etiquette conundrum video, Inspired by Nikki wrote, "Good morning Jennifer! Oh no, the chamber pot! These are wonderful videos, I love them so much. Thank you both for doing these, it’s always nice to hear Ben’s take, he had me laughing with his response to the country club lady🌹"

Thank you, Nikki! We enjoy doing this etiquette series and plan to turn it into a regular event here on The Daily Connoisseur. The country club conundrum was my favorite of all the stories :)

I would love to know... which phrase have you been known to say in today's video? Let us know and your comment could be comment of the week on The Daily Connoisseur.
