It might seem a little late to be talking about New Years goals, but I’m of the mindset that goals can and should be set at any time and that you don’t need a big reason to start something new. A couple weeks into January, I realized that I hadn’t really given any thought to my goals for the year. With a newborn, it wasn’t surprising to me. Since this year is going to be very different, in terms of free time, in the beginning versus the end, I decided that I wanted to have one focus each month of this year, instead of a few goals for the entire year. This way, I can dedicate more energy to my goals in the months that are less full. My goal for January is rest. Sometimes it is really hard to truly rest, especially when you need it. I’ve been reminding myself to accept help when it is offered, to ask for help when it is needed, to choose to rest instead of pursue a hobby or passion (knowing that I will be able to fulfill those desires again soon), to let those I love take care of me instead of always taking care of others, to sleep when I have the opportunity, and to cherish these early days being a mom to two beautiful girls. What are you focusing on this month? . . . . . . . #yxeblog #saskblog #yxemom #yxebaby #fourthtrimester #newyearsgoals #newyearsresolutions #rest #January #themotherhoodcorner #realmomlife #momcommunity #lifewithkids #motherhoodunited #lessonsfrommadamechic #madamechic #goalsetting #journalling #yxecoffeeclub

Just Today writes, "Hello Jennifer, about 2 years ago, I picked up your book called, "Madame Chic" for my daughter. Like all the other books I buy her, it went into another part of the house, probably never to be seen again by her (no offence)...or so I thought. As I ventured out into my place of solitude, which happens to be my backyard these days, I decided to grab a book from that shelf in the other part of the house. Sitting quite comfortably in my cozy chair with the book about to open, I can honestly tell you that I didn't leave that spot until I finished reading the entire book! I couldn't stop!! It's like I went with you on your journey to Paris and although I've always been one to enjoy the finer things in life, you actually made me realize that I still need to continue to pamper myself and enjoy every aspect of my wonderful life, thus far. When I finished the last page, I immediately went right up to my daughter and handed her the book telling her she must read it. She's starting tonight and I can't wait to sit down with her, in our little backyard paradise, drinking lemonade, and conversing with each other about the wonderful contents of those pages! To now sit down at my computer and look up your YouTube channel and watch your video's, makes me now feel like I'm still on some type of wonderful journey with you. The feeling that you get when you take a big blanket out of a hot dryer on a cold winter day....that's the feeling and warmth I get from watching your video's. You are such a wonderful human being and quite the mentor to many of us ladies out here. I'm sure my daughter will feel the exact same way I do once she's completed your book. Thank you for being such a special addition to my life and my daughter's life....I'm sure she'll thank you one day too!!! 💖💖"

Wow! Your comment really blew me away. Your encouragement has meant so much to me. Thank you for your kind words and I hope your daughter enjoys the books too!

Outfits of the Week | Ten-Item Capsule Wardrobe |Ladylike Dressing | Quick OOTDs

6:41 AM 15 Comments

I have another week of outfits for you today to inspire you in your ten-item wardrobe. This time, I shoot rapid OOTD (outfits of the days) and don't chat too much about my schedule. I know many of you don't have time to watch longer videos. Please tell me which format you prefer.

This week, Ben and I celebrated our 13th anniversary. He enjoyed crashing my OOTD filming. I sometimes wonder what he thinks of my strange job. I think he gets it!

As I am writing this, the weather has turned here as it has in much of the country. It was very chilly and rainy today. I plan to bring out some fall sweaters and coats to wear with my spring clothes. We will see how that works. But I am getting ahead fo myself... let's have a look at the outfits in this week's video. I have linked items below.

LL Bean Knit Summer dress, short sleeve sweater (similar), Kork-ease sandals, Earrings by Ana Luisa (Use code Jennifer10 for $10 off), phone case by Casetify

A.P.C. dress (linking similar here and here), new leopard sandals inspired by my friend, Hilary at Old World Home.

Draped cardigan (linking similar here), striped shirt (linking similar), denim skirt (linking similar), leopard sandals, A'del Natural Cosmetics which I'll be reviewing soon on the channel.

Rebecca Taylor dress (dress no longer available, linking Rebecca Taylor), navy leggings, navy ballet flats (linking similar)

LL Bean floral dress , Lands' End sweater, nude croc patent ballet flats (linking similar)

I hope you enjoy today's video.

On last week's What I look like at the end of the day video, Skogfisk writes, "Thank you so much for this video! I think this is one of the most inspiring videos you have made. You always say that it's about looking presentable, not perfect - it is wonderful to see how you practice this in your everyday life. This makes me feel like I can do it too :)"

Thank you, Skogfisk! I'm so happy that this video has encouraged so many. Even though the days are long and hard I don't regret investing my time with my family. It truly brings deep satisfaction!

Thank you for watching this week's outfits of the week. I have some fun videos planned for this week. Thank you, as always, for joining me.

See you soon!

Weekday Outfits Kitchen Renovation Edition | Ten-Item Wardrobe

6:04 AM 5 Comments

Welcome to another week of outfits from my ten-item wardrobe. I enjoy shooting these videos and I hope you enjoy watching them. My intention here is to show you how my ten-item wardrobe works practically with my life circumstances.

This week we are beginning a kitchen renovation. Living in construction with four kids (not to mention homeschooling) has been very interesting to say the least! I will be sharing a video dedicated to the kitchen renovation, but you do get a sneak peak in today's video.

Here are the outfits. Most of the items are older so I am linking similar items when needed.

Lace tee (linking similar), denim skirt (linking similar), Garnet Hill Kork-Ease sandal , and my new phone case is from Casetify.

Grey cardigan, LL Bean Knit dress (they have added new styles!), Sam Edelman Gigi sandal and the Okabashi sandals (They are so comfortable for around the house. I love them!)

Oversized tan cardigan (linking similar), white tee linking similar, Lands' End jeans (please note: these stretch and run large... I will be updating my jeans. As I lose the baby weight these are too big for me), green driving shoes (linking similar). Also featured: my clothing steamer

White short sleeve sweater (linking similar), LL Bean Knit dress, Sam Edelman Gigi sandal, lapis lazuli necklace by Ana Luisa NY Use code Jennifer10 for $10 off.

The nail polish I'm wearing this week is by Londontown Use code JenniferS for 25% off your order.

Dawn writes, "To say I am enthralled with your Madame Chic books would be an understatement! I have been fascinated with Parisian/French life for a few years now. I have read many books on the subject, but yours are my favorite. I have mindfully and purposefully made some changes in how I embrace life. For instance, I clean off the kitchen table and have it set with a table cloth or placemats and a centerpiece (we have a small house and this is our only eating area). I have made sure we sit down to eat several times a week; no more eating in front of the tv or computer. I have put soothing, upbeat music on in the morning as we begin our day. I try to make more conscious decisions about all things. (My daughter just returned from visiting Paris for the first time and I'm anxious to hear her impressions of it.)

I am listening to the music your suggested -- wonderful, calming! Renoir is one of my favorite artists, too. I really like any of the floral pictures but I really liked the one Two SIsters Aka on the Terrace. It reminds me of my two girls, who are almost six years apart in age."

Dear Dawn, I loved your comment! Thank you for sharing your exciting testimonial about the Madame Chic books. I love that Renoir too... it could be my favorite!

Thank you for joining me for today's video. I'll see you tomorrow for the FabFitFun add ons video. See you then!
