Patch Bamboo Bandages + Makeup Remover Cloth | Natural Home with Jennifer

7:19 AM 2 Comments

On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, we explore, organic bamboo bandages and makeup remover cloths.

We are exploring all areas of natural living on this channel. It's true with today's amazing consumer market that you can upgrade most of the items you use in your home to make them more sustainable and natural. Let's start with Patch Bamboo bandages.

Patch bandage strips are hypoallergenic, free of irritating chemicals & toxins, as well as latex free, silicone free, plastic free, sulphate free, & paraben free, allowing for suitable protection and soft support for all sensitive skin types. PATCH strips are both vegan and environmentally friendly. The tube packaging is made from recycled cardboard & printed with a natural color dye, and the bandage strip is made with 100% compostable rice paper, certified bamboo fiber & mineral-based adhesive with no added chemicals, and have tested to break down in soil within weeks.

Here are the different types of bandages. The description is taken from their website. All of the bandages are available on Amazon.

Natural Organic Bamboo bandage
NATURAL & HYPOALLERGENIC WOUND CARE: PATCH strips are made from 100% organic bamboo fiber and mineral-based pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) to gently adhere to the skin without causing reactions - a natural alternative to common wound care, perfect for those with highly sensitive skin!

Patch Aloe Vera Bandage
ENRICHED WITH ALOE VERA EXTRACT: The gauze of PATCH Aloe Vera strips is enriched with the natural goodness of aloe vera to help repair and sooth burns, blisters, & minor abrasions, and promote a natural recovery.

Activated Charcoal Bandages
ENRICHED WITH ACTIVATED CHARCOAL: The gauze of PATCH Activated Charcoal strips is enriched with the natural goodness of activated charcoal to support bites & splinters by helping to draw out impurities from the skin and reduce redness, and promote a natural recovery.

Patch Kids Coconut Oil Bandages
ENRICHED WITH COCONUT OIL: The gauze of PATCH Kids Coconut Oil strips is enriched with the natural goodness of coconut oil to assist the natural repair of minor bumps, grazes, & scratches, and promote a natural recovery.

The second natural selection I have been exploring are makeup remover cloths. How did I not know these existed? I have been using the disposable variety for over a decade. That is a lot of waste. Makeup remover cloths are gentle, high-quality cloths that work to remove makeup with just water. I found out about them because a reader of mine sent me a message about how good the one on Grove Collaborative was. So order it, I did. And it is amazing! If you watched my skincare routine video from last week, you caught a glimpse of me using it. The one from Grove is long, so you can use it twice before washing it. If you are not with Grove, I have also found multi-packs of the makeup remover cloths on Amazon here and here. In order to make these work for everyday use, you would need several of them because you should wash them after each use. They really take the makeup off and get quite soiled.

I hope you enjoyed today's video and that it gave you new ideas on how you can incorporate sustainable natural products into your life. If you have any recommendations for future Natural Home with Jennifer features, please let us know in the comment section. Thank you for joining me for today's video and I'll see you soon!

Cleaning the Entire Bathroom with Just Water | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:44 AM 8 Comments

On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, I'm cleaning our master bathroom... with a twist! I'm using only water and my e-cloths for everything from the counters, to the mirrors, to the bathtub, to the floor.

The e-cloths I use in today's video are the general purpose cloth (for the counters), the glass cloth (for the mirror), the mop head and mop (for the floor), and the new fresh mesh e-cloth scrubber for the bathtub.

Our bathtub was particularly in need of a scrub as I have been using bath oils and masks. I found the scrubber to work amazingly well. I've had the bad experience of having a bath in a tub that was cleaned with a chemical scrubber and felt as though I was soaking in those chemicals. So I really loved cleaning the tub with just water.

e-cloth have generously given us a code: Use code APRILSCOTT for 15% off from April 12-17th for e-cloth

Featured in the video:

Our photo album. I get mine made by Chatbooks and The Daily Connoisseur coffee mug. Also my Jo Malone fragrances.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

My Favorite Natural Candles of 2019 | Natural Home with Jennifer

7:03 AM 3 Comments

I love candles and always have them in my home year-round. Of course, I tend to burn them more during the fall and winter months, but I still enjoy them in the spring and summertime too. I love the quiet, burning flame and the pleasing scent. They provide a little luxury throughout my day and remind me to stay present and calm.

While I love candles, I have never really thought about their natural (or not-so-natural) properties. I frequented the popular candle stores just like everyone else. Traditional candles can be full of chemicals and synthetic fragrances. As I go through my home and products to make them more natural, however, I realized I needed to find more natural replacements for my favorite candles.

This has been my most favorite post to research. The Sudsy Soapery and Legend's Creek Farm candles were sent to me in care packages from the respective companies. I really delighted in the candles they sent. The scents are all so unique!

I contacted a few other natural candle companies I found online and discovered Cellar Door Candles, another wonderful small business that is passionate about natural candle making. These small businesses all deserve to be known. It's my pleasure to share their beautiful artisanal candles with you today.

Cellar Door Candles

• 100% Chemical free for the entire candle.

Pacific Northwest 100% unique wood essential oil. Pure Fir Needle & Red Birch.
One smell of this blend, will immediately transport you. Walking in the middle of a thick forest adjacent to the river. Sweet, Fresh, Green & Pure. A true connection to nature & earth.

Earth Gifts Aromatherapy Candles from Legend’s Creek Farm

These delightful candles come in 8oz recyclable glass jars with metal lids and have up to a 60 hour burn time with regular wick trimming. They use-food grade paraffin wax. Legend's Creek Farm use food-grade paraffin wax to avoid the use of hexane, herbicides and pesticides. These candles are beautifully scented and really fill the room with their boutique fragrances.

Earth Gifts best-selling candles are:

Cashmere & Cardamom is the first candle they created, and one of the strongest throwing scents they offer. It fills the room with a potent and spicy blend of beautiful aromas. This candle is made with blends of cashmere, cardamom, sandalwood, geranium, amber, clove and pepper. I find it to be so cozy. I love this one! $14 8oz

Made with high quality essential oils, it fills your home with the scent of the holiday season. This is the best Christmas tree candle you will find! $14 8oz

Seaside is reminiscent of the sea and reminds me of a chic seaside resort. It is a fresh, ocean scent with so much depth. It is so delightful and unique!

Sudsy Soapery Aromatherapy soy candles

The Sudsy Soapery’s naturally scented soy candles are fragranced with essential oils. I love their beautiful fragrances and appreciate how they fill the room with crackling warmth. The candles are 7.5 oz and have a burn time of approximately 30-40 hours

Sweetly Resting The rich scent of aromatherapy bitter almond is reminiscent of the sweetness that is found in rest. The almond bitter essential oil is sweetened with the buttery scent of all natural vanilla. I LOVE this candle. It is the perfect, most pure almond candle I've ever tried. $18.95

Amazing Love
Warm and soothing, the scent of cinnamon inspires and invites while the exotic scent of the Ylang Ylang flower essential oil comforts. This Aromatherapy candle will be a delight and bring warmth and comfort. This candle arrived with rose petals in the lid and is a very exotic, yet comforting scent. I just love this one too! $18.95

Grove Collaborative

Because many of you are customers of Grove Collaborative, I am reviewing their soy candles in this feature as well. Grove's 100% natural soy candles are made in the USA by talented artisans and come in three signature scents: warm and spicy Vanilla & Sandalwood, cool and calming Eucalyptus & Spearmint and sweet and uplifting Blood Orange. At 8oz, they burn beautifully for hours so you can savor these delightful, natural fragrances! I’ve also tried maple and nutmeg and really enjoyed that one for the fall season. 8oz $14.95

I hope you enjoyed today's video on my favorite natural candles. I would love to know which candle sounds like your favorite! Also, if you have any natural candles you love, please share them with us below.

Reviewing the Mrs. Meyer's Spring Scents 2019 + Ben's Review

7:31 AM 0 Comments

I feel like time is sometimes measured by Mrs. Meyer's seasonal scents! Grove Collaborative sent me Mrs. Meyer's new seasonal scents for spring: peony, lilac, and mint. In today's video I give you my personal opinions and Ben weighs in too.

My favorite scent is definitely Lilac. It's beautiful, delicate, sweet, and floral. I found peony to be lovely but a bit cloying and mint was fresh, green, and floral (but not very minty). Have you tried the Mrs. Meyer's spring scents? Which one was your favorite?

Grove's spring special is here. New customers receive a free Mrs. Meyer's spring set: dish soap, hand soap and multi-surface spray, as well as the Grove spring bubble dish scrubber and walnut scrubber sponges. Existing customers always receive free walnut scrubber sponges with my link.

I hope you enjoyed today's fun review.

I'll see you on the blog tomorrow for a guest bathroom decor video.

I would love to know which Mrs. Meyer's scent is your favorite!

Love,

Jennifer

Cleaning Floors with Just Water? | E-Cloth Mop | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:25 AM 5 Comments

Ever since I reviewed the e-cloth, clean with just water, microfiber cloths back in December, I have had many of you ask me to try out the mop. On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, I clean the dirtiest area of our home... the area where our 2-year-old enjoys his meals :)

Here are the benefits that I see to using the e-cloth mop:

🌿 You are not using any harsh chemicals on your floors because you are cleaning with just water.

🌿 You are still getting rid of 99% of bacteria on the floor, so it's a great option for people who have crawling babies or toddlers.

🌿 You are saving money on floor cleaner since you are using only water.

We have a very large floorspace in our home. That is a high-quality problem! Although it is a lot of work when I mop the floors (my kids help me too, they actually like to mop). I have been using the Method Almond floor cleaner, but I have been using so much that I've been spending a lot of money on the product. Going forward, I will mop with just water and use the Method twice a month to polish the floors. I think that is a nice balance.

This is the European Deep Clean Mop that I use in the video. The e-cloth mop head sells for $13.99. You could also get them in a bundle pack. Please note: I know a lot of you have the microfiber mop from Amazon that I have mentioned in the past. These mop heads fit that mop as well.

Here are the particulars from the e-cloth website:

The Deep Clean Mop removes grease, dirt and over 99% of bacteria from all types of hard flooring, using just water. Made from lightweight aluminum with telescopic handle (extendable 3ft to 5ft).

Made from durable, lightweight aluminum with height adjustable handle - extends from 3ft to 5ft
The Mop Head's special weave breaks up and holds grease and dirt, which ordinary mops leave behind
Cleans using just water, no chemicals - the power is in the fibers
Removes over 99% of bacteria. 3 Year guarantee

I always like to check in with the company to see if they can give you a discount. E-Cloth have given The Daily Connoisseur audience a discount! Use code SPRINGSCOTT for 15% off your order (valid only from March 9 - March 15, 2019).

Please note that the mop head I am holding in today's video is clean, just out of the laundry. I realize the way I edited the video, you might think it was the one I just used to clean the floor. Not so :)

Thank you for watching today's video.

I hope you are enjoying this Natural Home with Jennifer series. If you are seeing improvements in your home, cleaning routine, health and more from switching to more natural products, please let us know! Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you soon!

Shampoo and Conditioner Bar Review | The Sudsy Soapery | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:04 AM 7 Comments

I have to say, I was completely taken aback by this investigative review. Ever since I started my Natural Home with Jennifer series, you have been urging me to try shampoo and conditioner bars. I didn't jump at the request because I thought, "how good could those possibly be?" I imagined washing my hair with a bar of soap and coming out of the shower with brittle, coarse hair.

Well, I finally decided to try them and I was completely astonished at the results. Not only did they clean my hair well, but they actually nourished it, conditioned it, and made it softer. I film this before and after at the end of a long, rainy day when I looked like something the cat dragged in. Yikes! But wait until you see the "after".

The lovely bars I am using are from The Sudsy Soapery. They contacted me to to see if I'd like to try any of their products. I noticed they did shampoo and conditioner bars so I requested those. Not only did they send the bars, but they also sent me a lovely care package full of candles, soaps, and natural deodorant! I will have to do another review of all of their other lovely products.

Check out all of their shampoo bars here and their conditioner bars here.

Here is what they have to say about their Calendula shampoo bar:
Our hair shampoo bar is meant for normal hair and leaves your hair feeling conditioned, soft and manageable. This bar is a great alternative to sulfate and chemical ridden shampoo that leaves your scalp and hair dry and frizzy.

Here is what they say about their conditioner bar:
Our after shampoo solid hair conditioner bar is packed full with all natural ingredients to make your hair look and feel great. We have chosen some of the very finest hair conditioning butters like Jojoba and Hemp Seed to enhance the conditioning experience. As part of our ongoing dedication to hair health we have decided to complete the hair bar experience with adding some great aids like Lemon Shine and Split end fortifiers to make your hair conditioning a natural and amazing experience!

I have used these for a few weeks and have also worn my hair curly a few times since then. These bars cultivate beautiful curls! My daughters use them too and I am amazed at how tangle-free and beautifully textured their hair is after using them. I can't recommend them enough!

The Sudsy Soapery are a small business run by a husband and wife team. They are the loveliest people and their products are handmade and totally natural.

While the prices are cheaper on their own website, some people like to be able to buy on Amazon so I am also linking them here: shampoo bar on Amazon and conditioner bar on Amazon

Sudsy Soapery's promise

🌿 NO SYNTHETICS EVER-

🌿 100% Natural Products

🌿 Sulfate-Free

🌿 Free of Synthetic Fragrance

🌿 No Fillers

🌿 No Synthetic Color or Dyes

🌿 Purposeful Ingredients

I hope you enjoy my review in today's video. I would love to know... have you ever tried shampoo and conditioner bars? What has been your experience?

Thanks for joining me today. I'll see you tomorrow (Saturday) for a fun girly video unboxing the FabFitFun spring box. See you then!

Chic February Assignment | A New Monthly Challenge | Jennifer L. Scott

6:22 AM 16 Comments

I'm starting a new monthly series called, The Chic Assignment. In this series, I will present four assignments that will better your month. Everything I present will be free and readily accessible to everyone. Let's get started with the month of February.

🎵Listen to 10. Sonata No. 8 in C minor, op. 13 (Pathétique) I: Grave - Allegro di molto e con brio (BEETHOVEN) Try listening to this masterpiece while cleaning your kitchen or making breakfast. Your daily routine will be elevated to new levels.

👗Ten-Item Wardrobe Assess your wardrobe and come up with one item that you absolutely love and one item you realize you could do without. Donate the item that isn't working for you. It's good to get in the habit of constantly assessing your wardrobe in this way.

🌿Natural Home Replace something you use in your home or beauty routine with a more natural product. It can be anything from a cleaning solution to a makeup product. Even if you just switch to cleaning with vinegar, you will sense a shift in the home.

📖 Read (or listen to) one book this month. We can get so busy. Life gets in the way and so do other forms of entertainment. This month, choose a new book and aim to read it within the month. Or listen to an audiobook. You can rent them from the library or if you have an audible subscription, you can easily find something good... Right now I'm reading book 4 in the Amory Ames series, An Act of Villainy.

I hope you will take on this challenge with me presented in today's video.

Comment of the Week
On last week's Blow Dry tutorial, Lauren C. writes on YouTube, "I am a professional hair stylist and you did amazing !! I am going to refer my clients to this ! It is actually a great example blowing out your own hair is very difficult to explain !"

Lauren, I was amazed at your comment. I was completely convinced that I had no idea what I was doing when blow drying my hair (I just knew it worked for me). Thank you for giving me the professional thumbs up!

Thank you for joining me today. I look forward to doing the Chic Assignment with you. Check back with us and let us know how you did!

Natural & Organic Makeup Tutorial | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:45 AM 4 Comments

On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, I'm doing a le no makeup look tutorial using mostly natural and organic makeup. Today, I'm featuring Elina organics makeup.

Elina Organics makeup products are 100% natural, contain Pearl Powder and Zinc Oxide for all day sun protection. Products are free of Talc and other toxic chemicals. They contain very minimal ingredients, making it perfect for even the most sensitive complexion.

The makeup will not accentuate or clog your pores. It will infuse your skin with skin nourishing and protecting amino acids, vitamins, and probiotics. You are able to achieve different levels of coverage from almost translucent to complete concealing.

Here are links to the makeup used:

Sun Shelter tinted moisturizer, crushed pearl powder foundation (I used medium), anti-wrinkle eyeshadow in espresso, anti-wrinkle eyeshadow in raspberry latte, and all natural mascara.

The tinted moisturizer goes on sheer, but still has great coverage. It feels light on the skin and moisturizes well. It is truly the star of the show.

I love the eyeshadows too. They start off as a cream and finish as a powder and last all day. I even used them without applying primer first and they last all day without creasing. The crushed pearl powder foundation works beautifully and I was very pleasantly surprised by the mascara. All in all, this is an excellent organic makeup line.

Elina organics also sent me the natural lash growth serum with peptides, which reportedly aides in lash growth. I haven't used this long enough to comment on whether or not it works. I can come back and let you know.

Other makeup used in the video (not organic)
bareMinerals concealer
Mac mineralize blush in warm soul
bareMinerals lipgloss in hype (I use this over the Elina organics lip color, which is too light for me)

I hope you enjoy the tutorial in today's video. If you have any requests for future Natural Home with Jennifer videos, please let me know. If you have a great natural and organic makeup line you use, please share in the comments. Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you on Monday.

New Natural Finds | Hand Sanitizer, Hair Care, Eczema & e-cloth | Natural Home with Jennifer

5:38 AM 6 Comments

On today's episode of Natural Home with Jennifer , I'm sharing some new natural finds in four different categories.

Hand Sanitizers

Birdie and Minnie Hand Sanitizers by Olika are wonderful little inventions. Here are some of their attributes:

VALUE - With 350+ sprays or 175 uses, Birdie replaces 10+ bottles of gel based alternatives.
HYDRATING - Formulation is proven to improve skin hydration for up to 24 hours.
BETTER-FOR-YOU INGREDIENTS - Formula contains 7 simple, natural ingredients that you can recognize and understand: Alcohol, water, glycerin, aloe vera and the essential oils of lemon, spearmint and bergamot.
NO NASTY CHEMICALS: Vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and void of any harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances.
DUAL FUNCTIONALITY - Birdie contains a sanitizing spray plus 10 dry wipes. Simply spray liquid on to wipe to capture dirt and grime on hands.
HIGH TECH - Birdie contains a twist locking mechanism to prevent accidental sprays on-the-go. Our bird needs to be fully unlocked in order to spray liquid.
The Minnie has 500+ sprays or 250 uses, Minnie replaces 15+ bottles of gel based alternatives.

They are also TSA friendly, so you can take them on your flight. Olika sent me these to review back in December and I've been using them ever since. They are very handy and make a great natural alternative to traditional chemical-laden hand sanitizers.

Shampoo + Conditioner

The Acure Argan Oil + Pumpkin Shampoo and Conditioner is a beautifully hydrating duo with a delightful scent. (Seriously, this smells amazing). I purchased mine on Grove Collaborative but you can also find the set on Amazon.

Vegan, gluten and cruelty free
Paraben, sulfate, silicone, sodium chloride, phthalate and synthetic fragrance free
Color safe, 100 percent biodegradable

I find these to be very moisturizing. They get my hair clean and I like their natural properties.

Eczema Therapy Cream

I requested the Kamedis Dermatology Eczema Therapy Cream to try as I have suffered from a particularly bad case of hand eczema of late. (Watch today's video to hear the whole story.) I find this cream to be very soothing and does help my hands when I suffer from a flare-up. Here are some of the botanicals found in this natural cream:

Chinese Rhubarb: a strong anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial botanical
Great Burnet
Tree of Heaven
Baikal Skullcap
Cnidium Fruit
Licorice

Here is more on Kamedis Dermatology from their website:
Kamedis skin formulations are derived from natural botanicals used in traditional Chinese medicine, botanicals that have been renowned for their therapeutic properties for hundreds if not thousands of years. Ours are conscientiously sourced and meticulously purified. Our manufacturing process employs the highest quality standards, including assessment of physical and chemical properties and microbiological testing.

**Please ask the opinion of your healthcare professional before using any new product to treat your eczema condition.

e-cloths - clean with just water

I love my e-cloths and was excited to test out the electronics cloth and glassware polishing cloth

They both performed beautifully. I was especially impressed with how the electronics cloth polished my laptop. To use, try it on your electronics dry first. If you have any stubborn streaks, dampen one corner of the cloth with water and wipe, then go over the same spot with a dry part of the towel.

The glass polishing cloth has a rough texture that is perfect for polishing your glasses. A great thing to do before a dinner party.

I hope you enjoyed the items reviewed on today's Natural Home with Jennifer. If you have any requests for this series, please let me know.

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you on Monday for an all new video.
