6:03 AM 22 Comments

Welcome back to The Daily Connoisseur. I hope you had a wonderful new year celebration. I am really looking forward to 2018! This year I am feeling really driven. I'm ready to inspire where I can and hopefully we can all make this our best year yet. I hope you enjoy today's video where I share what you can expect this year on The Daily Connoisseur.

We will be continuing the Mapp & Lucia Book Club in the spring! We will discuss the next two novels in the series, Lucia in London and Mapp & Lucia. Here are the links to Lucia in London on Audible and Mapp & Lucia on Audible. This will give you plenty of time to read or listen to the books before our spring book club begins. Enjoy!

I'm also taking questions and requests for upcoming videos. Please leave your requests in the comment section here, on YouTube or on any of my social media accounts (links at the bottom of this post). I look forward to hearing what you'd like to see in 2018 on the blog.

In my next video I have a very exciting interview with bestselling author, Jamie Cat Callan. I hope you enjoy it! Then you can expect my Winter 2018 ten-item wardrobe video. So many exciting things are taking place. I am so happy you are joining me!

New Year Message & Blog Plans for 2017

9:47 AM 28 Comments

Happy new year, dear readers! I hope you had a marvelous holiday break. I enjoyed my time off immensely. Baby's first Christmas was so special. We spent new year's eve celebrating with friends, and this past week have been on vacation in the snow in Yosemite.

This week's video is shot from my cozy hotel room at the Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite valley. It was our first time bringing the children to the snow, and they have had so much fun sledding and tobogganing with their cousins! In my video today, I share my annual new year's inspiration with you and outline the plans for the blog in 2017. (My apologies for the audio quality of this video. I did not have my usual equipment with me in Yosemite and as a result, the audio quality has suffered.)

This is going to be another year where we focus on making our home lives a priority. As I write about in At Home With Madame Chic, home life is truly important for everyone, whether you live in a big house, or a dorm room with a roommate. The focus of my home life blogs this year will have an emphasis on habits and routines, which are vital to creating a peaceful and nurturing home environment. Habits and routines become even more important when you have children. I have many thoughts on these topics and am excited to share them with you this year!

Also, regarding beauty and ten-item wardrobe, I have heard your requests. So many of you over the years have requested that I feature budget beauty and wardrobe items. This year I will be investigating and reviewing many drugstore beauty items. I am looking for affordable products that do not compromise quality. The same will be said for my ten-item wardrobe posts later this year. It will be a fun experiment and I hope you join me!

Finally, I am aiming to implement a new video series on my YouTube channel: in addition to Monday's regular video, I plan to start a weekly, or bi-weekly Teatime with Jennifer, where we discuss popular or current events stories. So many times something will happen in the news and I will want to weigh in on it from the Madame Chic/ Daily Connoisseur perspective, and this year I will finally begin!

I continue to read and love your emails and comments. Because I am not able to respond to each one, I will continue to feature the "comment of the week" on the blog. I feature comments from this blog, the YouTube channel and from my social media accounts.

Thank you for joining me for another season of The Daily Connoisseur. I hope you will subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't already. It is free! If you click the "bell" next to the subscribe button, you will be notified every time I upload a video. I encourage you to do this, because the teatime with Jennifer videos will not have their own blogpost. They will be in video form only.

If you have any requests for the new year, please leave them below. See you soon!

Happy New Year and HAPPY NEWS

11:16 AM 57 Comments

Hello dear Daily Connoisseurs and happy new year! I am feeling refreshed and invigorated after my blogging break and ready to embrace 2016 and all that it has to offer.

I left you with a bit of a cliffhanger in my last video to let you know that I would have a big announcement for you this year. The news is too exciting to keep to myself any longer so here we go:

WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY! :)

This will be our third child and I am due at the end of June. This is such happy news for our family. We are really thrilled to be welcoming another child. Our daughters are very excited and always want to prepare for the baby coming. Thank you in advance for your well-wishes and I look forward to sharing more with you as time goes on.

This week I have a short video for you sharing the happy news. If you are unable to see the video above, click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or visit my channel, www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur

I have many exciting videos and topics to share with you in 2016. I know I was supposed to be on a break during the Christmas holiday, but I did shoot two videos, which you will see in the coming weeks- one showing my new year's eve table setting (a special bonus video this Thursday) and one sharing my large batch cooking video for freezer lasagnas.

Please leave any requests you have for the new season of The Daily Connoisseur below in the comment section. I always love to hear what interests you.

Carrie Willard chooses Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic as one of her favorite books for 2015.

Raeful lists Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic as #2 on her top reads of 2015

Kaitlin Olson, editorial assistant at Simon & Schuster and someone I work closely with on the Madame Chic books, has written a wonderful tribute to her grandmother, which is featured in the New York Times this week. Congratulations Kaitlin!

Letter of the Week
This week's letter comes from Karen, who writes:

Dear Ms. Scott,

What can I say? At last- a set of books that fully outline and codify some of my deepest and longest held life concepts, written out and explained so much better than any other I've ever been exposed to in my life. I've always had as one of my deepest desires and as one of my basic core beliefs, the desire and necessity to "live beautifully". Although I've always had some kind of notion as to what this means, those notions have always proved to be much too vague for me to be able to put them into actual practice. I can't tell you the life-changing information, as well as pleasure, l've gained from from reading your books. My entire concept of living beautifully- there it all is! Outlined and expanded on paper, and with specific details as to how to put everything into practice. This is a "big thing" for me, as heretofore the means for implementing my lofty objectives has always eluded me. I now have a set of many concrete steps I can take, and the reasonings behind those steps .......all wrapped in encouraging words and messages designed for each.
Most of my life I have wanted to make a positive contribution, to leave "a life legacy".....with my lacking in specific strong skills and talents, however, I could never envision in what manner I could ever hope to achieve this type of objective. However, after reading about the importance of poise in our world and the positive impact to our world and to others provided by regular exposure, I now have a sense of hope, as well as a sense of a mission in life- especially living in a culture bleak with vulgarity and coarseness.
I am not one to write authors...but the need to let you know the impact your writings have made on me was placed on my heart......especially as that impact is fairly significant. I CAN' T wait to continue cultivating poise on an ongoing basis- it is providing me with both a great measure of pleasure, and more meaning to my life as a whole. Ha! Maybe one of these days I'll pick up blogging, if only to document the changes I make as I implement your suggestions, as well as the impact of any of those changes, as time progresses!

Thank you so much!

Warmly,

Karen

See you Thursday for a special bonus video!

Best Wishes,

Jennifer x

New Year Message and My Third Book

4:45 PM 34 Comments

Happy new year Daily Connoisseurs! It is great to be back on the blog. I hope you all had a restful break.

2015 on The Daily Connoisseur is going to be a very exciting year. We will continue to explore the concepts in At Home With Madame Chic on the importance of living well at home. We will elaborate more deeply on traditional connoisseur topics like the Ten-Item Wardrobe, etc. and we will also uncover new concepts that will enrich our everyday lives in magnificent ways.

This week's video discusses the upcoming 2015 topics and shares the Christmas present I received from Mr. Connoisseur (you will have to watch the video to see what this one is!).

Please check out this week's video to hear more of what I have in store for you. If you are unable to see the video above, click here, look in the sidebar of this blog, or visit my channel: www.youtube.com/TheDailyConnoisseur

My Third Book!
I am so pleased to now share my wonderful news with you... The week before Christmas break I received my third book deal with Simon & Schuster! I have been working on this book concept for a few months now and am so thrilled to have received the go-ahead from Simon & Schuster.

I won't discuss my work until I'm finished with it, but I can tell you that it will bring us even deeper into the Madame Chic lifestyle and will contain concepts that all readers can incorporate into their lives. We are hoping that the book will be released in time for Christmas 2015 (this year!). Thank you to my agent, Erica Silverman, and my editor, Trish Todd, (the Chic dream team!) for making this happen.

News
At Home With Madame Chic is mentioned in Redbook magazine this month inspiring people to cultivate gratitude.

I am featured on At Home With Cheryll and Sam's radio show discussing Madame Chic and the art of living well.

BookGirlTV has featured both Madame Chic books in her annual gift guide. Thank you Tessa! (Her YouTube channel is wonderful, by the way, check it out and subscribe if you love books as much as I do).

Rose of Books recommends At Home With Madame Chic for your new year reading resolutions.

Mrs. Shockley of A Home For Elegance loves the affirmations in At Home With Madame Chic.

Madame Chic Inspiring Thought
What are your new year resolutions? Most people vow to eat healthier, lose weight and exercise more. These are great aspirations, but I also encourage you to strive to improve your life in a even more meaningful way. Commit this year to changing yourself for the better: to be present, stand firm with your values and to not be swayed by what is popular, but by what is important to you and your heart. Resolve to be an even better version of yourself this year. I will be there right along with you.

Testimonial

Casey N. writes:

Dear Mrs. Jennifer,

I wanted to thank you so much for all that you have done by writing your books and sharing your life with everyone through your blog. I am a thirteen-year-old girl living in Maryland, and your blog and books have changed my views on life. I have turned my closet into a 10 Item Wardrobe and read your first book cover to cover. I just asked for and received "At Home With Madame Chic" for a Christmas present, and it was definitely one of my very favorite gifts! You are such a great role model for women and girls everywhere. All of the ideas about living have inspired me do do things that I would never have done otherwise. I de-cluttered my room, I wear my nice things always, and always have a refined and positive attitude.

Thank you again and have a Happy New Year!
Casey

I wrote Casey back privately to thank her for her kind email but wanted to share it with you here on the testimonials to emphasize how life-changing The Daily Connoisseur concepts can be. To hear such an articulate and inspiring email from 13-year-old girl makes all the work I do worthwhile. Thank you Casey!

Requests for 2015
Please leave me a comment below with any requests you have for the new year. The most popular and heavily requested topics are the ones I will strive to address first so don't be shy and let me know what you would like to hear on The Daily Connoisseur this year.
