Maternity Ten-Item Wardrobe SS 2018 | Jennifer L. Scott

I'm sharing my maternity ten-item wardrobe fashion show with you today. If you've ever been on the fence about the ten-item wardrobe, the maternity season of life is a wonderful time to try it out. You don't want to purchase a lot of clothes during this time because you'll only be wearing them for a few months. Having said that, purchasing maternity clothes is unavoidable. As your body changes, you must have clothes to accommodate your growing belly.

If you plan to have more than one child, you can purchase some maternity clothes that will aide you in your future pregnancies. Four of my core items are returning from my prior pregnancy, and the rest have been purchased with my budget in mind from zulily and Amazon, which both have wonderful maternity selections.

I will be doing my talk-through video on Thursday that discusses each piece in detail, including the undergarments and accessories I wear with them, but for today, let's just check out the pieces.

The four returning core items are all from Seraphine. These are all from my prior pregnancy with my son.

The new pieces purchased are from zulily's maternity section. They have a marvelous maternity selection year-round at heavily discounted prices.

The brand for this pretty orchid-colored dress is Mom & Co. from zulily.

Black maternity dress by GLAM from zulily.

This comfortable nautical-stripe dress is by Mom & Co. from zulily.

The royal purple maxi dress is by Mother Bee Maternity from zulily.

Floral maxi dress by Mother Bee Maternity from zulily.

The black fold-over skirt and my maternity tee shirts are from Amazon. I love both of these items. The skirt is not actually a maternity skirt, I am just using it as one and hopefully will be able to wear it after the birth as well.

The maternity jeans are from zulily.

As you can see, I have 11 core items in my maternity wardrobe this year (tee shirts, shoes, and cardigans are categorized as extras, not core items). This maternity wardrobe has served me very well so far. It can be dressed up or dressed down all all of the pieces are comfortable and adapt to my growing body. I look forward to discussing the details in a more in-depth way with you in Thursday's talk-through video.

I hope you enjoy today's video.

Speaking of Zulily ... I see many items can now be returned. That was not the case previously. Makes it less risky to take advantage of their bargains!

That would be awesome if pieces from Zulily can be returned. That's often been my hesitation with Zulily. I have bought a couple of beautiful dresses and things from them that I'm pretty certain will fit and not be a risk. I've hesitated on other pieces not knowing if they'd be a good fit.

Hello Jennifer,

Thanks for sharing your lovely wardrobe as well as your Halsbrook outfit ideas. For what it's worth, I'm convinced that, in the "dressing your truth" world, you are a type 4 woman... Not that you asked me, but, given your love of stripes and bold hues as evidenced in both your wardrobe and your Halsbrook post, that's my conclusion. Also, there is your perfectionism, which I appreciate, as shown in your bloopers video. I'm also a type 4; so that may help to explain why I love your blog and books~ You also have a couple of type 2 dresses (the more pastel prints), and I believe that your secondary type may be type 2. I hope this information is helpful to you, if you are not already aware of it. I also encourage others to discover their energy type. It is so useful when creating one's wardrobe.

Warm best,
Alexandra

I love your choices! I wore a lot of dresses and skirts during my first pregnancy because I was working in an office setting. I think I had a pair of black slacks too and then several maternity tops. I bought jeans but I don’t think I ever wore them during my first pregnancy. My second pregnancy I was (and am still) a stay-at-home mom, so I used a lot of the same tops but added some Bermuda shorts and capris. I felt slightly cooler in those than in the dresses for some reason. Both of my children were born in early September so I was heavily pregnant during the hottest time of the year. The first time wasn’t so bad, but the second time I was absolutely miserable because I was chasing a toddler all day and my second baby was huge, so I was constantly overheated and out of breath! I feel your pain with the breathlessness! I imagine that California summers are hotter than our Colorado summers too. I hope somehow you’ll be able to get some extra rest during this time. Best wishes and congratulations on your new little addition!

I have never had a child and I still enjoy all your videos, because you look fashionable, stylish, comfortable and elegant in your maternity wardrobe and at every stage in your life, which is why I'm a loyal viewer and am always inspired along the way. Your wonderful selection fits every activity inside and outside the home. I love it that you respect your budget and found such remarkable items on Amazon and Zulily, and for your viewers who are pregnant or planning families, you're showing them how to enjoy this time with a lovely ten-item wardrobe. That Amazon skirt looks so comfortable, I just may have to take a closer look. I look forward to the talk-through video.

Lovely dresses!! You inspired me a few years ago to wear more dresses and you introduced me to my favorite store Boden:) When ever I see your wardrobe choices each season it encourages me to continue dressing well each day even if I am staying home all day to raise and teach my four children. Thank you!

I love that you buy favorites in multiple colors/patterns. I need to do that when I find something that I love! I was just thinking of that today as I was putting on a pair of pants whose fit is perfect (why, why didn't I get more?!). That purple maxi dress is stunning on you!
