Cleaning with Water | e-cloth | Natural Home with Jennifer

In today's special Saturday edition of Natural Home with Jennifer, I'm cleaning with water. Yes, water! It doesn't get more natural than that.

I'm using e-cloths today to explore this new trend of using high-quality microfiber cloths and water to clean the home. I had always heard of this method of cleaning but have generally been skeptical. How on earth can cleaning with only water actually disinfect surfaces?

Here is the explanation from e-cloth's website:
The tendency of water to grab and hold small particles is among the most powerful forces in nature. It's the force that forms every raindrop and snowflake – and it’s the all-natural “active ingredient” in every E-Cloth product. Each of our precision-engineered microfiber textiles is designed to unlock this amazing power of water to perform specific cleaning tasks.

How does e-cloth work?
Run the General Purpose Cloth under the tap and then wring it out. This “charges” the cloth by filling the microscopic voids between and within the cloth’s fibers with water. When you draw the cloth across a dirty surface, those water molecules attract and stick to particles of dirt, grease, grime, even bacteria and mold, pulling the particles into the voids and trapping them there. Rinsing the cloth with warm or hot water, or running it through a machine wash cycle, releases the trapped particles and refreshes the cloth.

In today's video, I try out the general purpose cloth, as well as the glass and polishing cloth. I was pretty amazed with how well the glass and polishing cloth provided a streak-free clean for my mirrors and windows. The general purpose cloth made our bathroom countertops shine. I'm really impressed with this line.

For those of you who are looking for an ultra-natural solution to effectively cleaning your home, e-cloth would be great for you. The e-cloths last through 300 washes, making them very cost-effective. They wash and hold together really well. Do not use fabric softener when washing your cloths.

e-cloth have given us a discount code, use code JENNIFERGIFT for 25% off your order (valid until December 15, 2018).

Thank you to e-cloth for sending me these cloths to review. I hope you enjoy today's video.

Glad to see this on your website. I have used them for years and also really like them. When cleaning counters, sinks, etc., they seem to just grab the grime, dirt or grease and provide very good results. 💧💁🏼‍♀️

Jennifer - how did it do for picking up hair? With three of us gals we tend have a lot of hair in & around the sink that makes me crazy trying to pick up. Everything seems to just push it around....

Hi Jennifer,
I have those two cloths that you’ve used in this video and I have to say I agree with you, I love them, they work fabulously with just water, quite amazing really. I joined up to “The Mighty Nest” a few years ago and these were sent one month, I was so sceptical but really loved that they worked so well. I have since stopped my subscription with the mighty nest as it worked out to be quite expensive in AUS $$. Have a lovely day,
Fi

Hi Jennifer. I bought the dusting e-cloth a couple of months ago after trying some DIY dusting sprays that did not impress me. I am liking the dusting cloth which, as you can imagine, uses no sprays at all....just the cloth. I have not washed it yet, but I expect it will continue to perform very well. Have a very Merry Christmas!

PS....I posted this past summer about the Sylvaine Delacourte perfumes you reviewed. I mentioned that I had ordered the Discovery boxes for the musks and the vanillas. I wanted to let you know that the vanillas were as wonderful as the musks. Different of course, but they were all nice....definitely sweeter. I ended up choosing the musk Helicriss and really enjoy it. The scent reminds me of something from my youth (maybe my mom's perfume), but I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyway, you had asked me to let you know how the vanilla scents were. Sorry it took so long for me to let you know. :)

Frenchcaligirl- it's great to get your positive feedback on the e-cloths too. Thank you!

Shannon- I haven't noticed with the hair. We don't have that problem too much with our sinks... in the shower definitely.

Fiona- that's neat that you can get them in Australia too!

Anon- you are so welcome! It's a big discount! For everything I review, I like to see if I can get a code for the readers.

Kim- that's great! Do you know I still have my vanilla samples waiting to be opened. I'm still waiting to do a video on them. I'll probably do it in the new year. Thanks for letting me know!

Hi Jennifer,
I've been cleaning in my kitchen for years using regular dishcloths and water. I think any clean cloth with some texture to it will do the same job as these type of cloths.

And I love how they are said to last through 300 washes...do they automatically stop working then? ; )
(Sorry, couldn't resist. Ah, marketing...)

In the bathroom, I use a natural "pop-up" sponge and water to clean the mirror and the countertops. It gets rinsed often and I also use it with Bon Ami to clean my sink.

For dusting, any microfiber cloth works well. I also never use fabric softener with the dishcloths or microfiber cloths.

Just some words for those with super tight budgets!

Absolutely amazed at this product, been thinking if I should buy for months and your review really helped me make that decision. So glad I have it now!! I don't think I've seen my glass so clean even with the toughest of cleaning products! Thank you Jennifer for your work :)

I agree with Jo. Most any cloth will do the same thing. Bar towels work great, for example. Also, I do not understand how using fabric made out of plastic (microfiber is polyester) is environmentally friendly. When they "wear out" they cannot be recycled or composted and will wind up in landfills. Whereas, a cotton cloth will decompose. I think the whole microfiber cloth thing is just marketing. Plastic is never an good option for our health and environment.

P.S. Jennifer, I am in the middle of your first book and am listening to the second and am loving them!

I was skeptical about how a cloth and just plain water could actually clean anything, but I was willing to give it a try since the discount was very generous.

I have parrots, and they are messy. Their cages often have dried food on the bars and sometimes I find dried poop in unexpected places. But parrots have delicate respiratory systems, so one can't use chemicals to clean around them. I WAS using plain vinegar in a spray bottle with a terrycloth rag. I had to really scrub, and still it didn't get EVERYTHING. Well, I tried one of the all-purpose E Cloths with just plain water. Much to my surprise and delight, it picked up dried food bits -- and YES! Even dried-on birdie poop! -- without having to scrub! It worked better and easier than the vinegar. (Apparently the cloth DOES make a difference.)

I can't wait until my regular cleaning day to try the other cloths (glass and window, kitchen appliance, furniture, and floor). Thanks, Jennifer!

Hi Mimi, that's wonderful! Thank you for the testimonial. Smaira27- thanks for sharing your experience too.

Jo and Terrell- I think the way microfiber in the cloths are spun allow them to pick up more dirt, debris, and bacteria. They have more fibers and are much smaller. I actually just tried the electronic cleaner and the kitchen towel for glass polishing and I have to say that compared to cleaning with regular cloths (which is what I normally would use) and the difference was phenomenal.

Thanks for commenting, ladies! And Terrell, thank you for your kind words about my book! xx

I love the idea of using E-Cloths after seeing your review here and you've sold me on the safety, ease and practicality of this Natural Home product. I'm sorry I'm just seeing this now and will jump over to the company's site and see if your code still works or if a new one is running. Thank you for really walking your viewers through it with your explanation and hands-on examples. With your large home and family, do you suggest getting multiples of these E-Cloths for one cleaning? Two? Your bathroom is sparkling and it's always a delight to see baby connoisseur. Since I'm a longtime fan and viewer, do you still use your vinegar and water infused with lavender oil? It seems since you shared this, and you were one of the first to use natural products at home, that many new items are out on the market. As always, it's wonderful following you on the Daily Connoisseur channel. P.S. In reading the comments here, you mention the electronic cleaner. Is this for computers? I'll check their website.
