End-of-Year Christmas Eve Message | Jennifer L. Scott

Dear Daily Connoisseurs,

Merry Christmas! Another year has passed and I can hardly believe it. When I started this blog back in 2007, I was newly married and excited to embark on the journey of blogging. I figured it would be a secret hobby and I was content that only a handful of strangers would read it.

11 years later, I can't believe I'm still here and that our little community has grown so much. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support and for your participation on the blog this year. My long-time readers have been with me through so much. And this year, welcoming our fourth child has been beyond special.

There were a few videos I wanted to put out for the holiday season, including Madame Bohemienne's flourless chocolate cake. I have been so busy with the children that I didn't get around to filming it. I apologize! But I promise to bring you the cake video in the new year.

If I were to look back at a theme for this year the word family keeps coming to mind. You've probably noticed I've included my family more and more in my videos. They are such an integral part of my life and I honestly love to look back over the years and see the little snippets where they've been included. I plan to include them more in the new year as I explore how to live well together as a family. Ultimately family relationships are the most important relationships you have, second to God. And I believe fostering quality time at home with those you love is of the utmost importance.

I'll be taking my annual Christmas break from the blog and YouTube channel. I'll be away for two weeks. I won't actually be resting because I received my next round of edits for CONNOISSEUR KIDS, which will be coming out in the fall of 2019. So I will be busy working on those. I am so excited for that book. I just know that you will love it.

Next year is bringing lots of exciting ventures. I am also working on a new eCourse that will hopefully motivate and inspire you.

Thank you for being you and for contributing to this blog by subscribing to my YouTube channel and commenting on the videos and posts. I am so grateful for you.

I close in this video by reading the famous poem, I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, from the book, A Vintage Christmas: A Collection of Classic Stories and Poems

Christmas Bells
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
and wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along
The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime,
A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound
The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn
The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth," I said;
"For hate is strong,
And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!"

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men."

Comment of the Week
Kathryn W. writes, "Merry Christmas Jennifer! I am a fellow work-at-home mom and it's been an absolutely insane day! I took a break from my work (while the kids finally nap!) to watch this video, and it was such a gift to me. I'm so inspired by your tenacity in striving for all that is beautiful in life, while giving yourself and your family grace for the reality and the struggles. It's refreshing to see the "behind the scenes" of your gorgeous videos. Thank you so much for your authenticity. And thank you for giving us a glimpse into your sweet family. That little nod your son gave you just melted my heart. I know this channel is a labor of love for you, and let me just way we all appreciate you so much! Blessings to you and your family this Christmas."

Dear Jennifer,

Let me be the first to wish you and your family a happy Christmas here today~ Thank you for your wishes. Your new e-course sounds exciting. I loved the debt-free e-course, so I am sure the next one will be great as well. Enjoy your "break". Looking forward to hearing from you in the New Year~ The chocolate cake recipe might work well for Valentine's Day, non?

Warmest hugs,

Merry Christmas, Jennifer!! I love that Christmas carol/poem. I didn't remember that Longfellow wrote it. You always look lovely, but that green of your sweater looks so good on you!

Hi Jennifer, merry Christmas to you and your family! I recently took a bad fall and am laid up a bit... right before Christmas! Lol but my family has moved into high geer and finishing up what I couldn’t get to. With that being said, I’ve been in bed with no tv in the room. All I have is my computer. I’ve looked on amazon and Netflix for a movie to pass the time but there are so few that I would even give my attention to. Luckily I remembered YouTube and I’ve been watching your older videos. I’m enjoying them so much and at least I feel I’m adding wholesome value to my life and learning a bit. Youve grown into such a woman of grace! Your such a positive influence in our woman’s world. I’ve always felt as woman, we’ve lost so much in the qualities of femininity and grace, but I see I’m not alone in my quest. The platform you’ve been given is helping so many who haven’t had that encouragement and upbringing. Bravo to you! I’ve found myself seeing the arts more, being more gracious and continuing to keep my relationship with God and my home a priority. Thank you friend! May your new year be bright! Karen from

Thank you Jennifer, and Merry Christmas!
Your blog has been a wonderful addition to my life this year. You are such a lovely lady.
About the poem - I don't usually read poetry - guess I'm more "visual" than "auditory", but as you read it I followed with the written poem you included below, which made all the difference. Marvelous! So happy I bought a copy of this book for my SIL this year - maybe I should get one for myself as well? :)
I will miss your videos, so, as you suggested, I hope to take one of your e-courses. Looking forward to that!
As always, God bless you!
