Reviewing the Mrs. Meyer's Spring Scents 2019 + Ben's Review

7:31 AM 0 Comments

I feel like time is sometimes measured by Mrs. Meyer's seasonal scents! Grove Collaborative sent me Mrs. Meyer's new seasonal scents for spring: peony, lilac, and mint. In today's video I give you my personal opinions and Ben weighs in too.

My favorite scent is definitely Lilac. It's beautiful, delicate, sweet, and floral. I found peony to be lovely but a bit cloying and mint was fresh, green, and floral (but not very minty). Have you tried the Mrs. Meyer's spring scents? Which one was your favorite?

Grove's spring special is here. New customers receive a free Mrs. Meyer's spring set: dish soap, hand soap and multi-surface spray, as well as the Grove spring bubble dish scrubber and walnut scrubber sponges. Existing customers always receive free walnut scrubber sponges with my link.

I hope you enjoyed today's fun review.

I'll see you on the blog tomorrow for a guest bathroom decor video.

I would love to know which Mrs. Meyer's scent is your favorite!

Love,

Jennifer

Ten-Item Wardrobe Transition from Winter to Spring | Jennifer L. Scott

4:14 AM 17 Comments

As part of The Chic Assignment for March, we are preparing our wardrobe for the upcoming season.

In today's video I talk through my ten-item wardrobe transition process from winter to spring. What will stay and what will go? Also, what will carry on into the next season?

Mentioned in the video:

Sea foam floral Lands' End dress (image taken from the Lands' End website)

Lands' End jeans (picture taken from Lands' End) These flat-front jeans are staying with me into spring. I plan to roll up the cuff and wear them with sandals. They go nicely with my lace tees from Loft, as well as my returning TJ Maxx red blouse. They also look good with my striped tee shirts.

LL Bean Knit Summer dress These are the perfect dresses. Seriously. If I were to choose a "uniform" this would be it. They are the perfect fit. They're comfortable. They're the perfect length and beautifully presentable.

Sam Edelman Gigi sandal A spring/summer favorite of mine, this sandal is very comfortable and goes with everything. I love it!

The striped tee is by Lands' End

Here is a link to Boden USA dresses for those interested...

I am still awaiting the Garnet Hill cork sandals in the mail

As well as the Garnet Hill sweaters, which (if they fit) I plan to layer over the dresses.

My earrings are by Ana Luisa NY
Use code Jennifer10 for $10 off

On my nails: Londontown Lemonade Pop (use code JenniferS for 25% off your order)

The candle I'm burning is Breathe Easy by Cellar Door Candles. The flower arrangement is by Horchow.

I hope you enjoy today's video.

Comment of the Week
Nicole H. writes, "I’m not sure if you remember me from a comment a year ago, but I thought I’d tag in with you again and give you an update!

It is my 1 year anniversary as a Daily Connoisseur and I wanted to thank you from my heart! I am going through the Madame Chic Books again, and plan to read them through each year.

Here are a few ways you have changed my life:

1. My husband is so grateful that I make an effort to provide a delightful breakfast complete with Bach For Breakfast playing in the background. He says he feels so sophisticated. Haha!
2. My mom, sister and I phone each other about you and the wonderful things we learn from you all the time.
3. My routines have been changed from bad habits and I’m constantly reevaluating them to see what can be improved.
4. My home is in a constant state of decluttering
5. I ENJOY laundry and look forward to it each day!!!
6. I’m still not at a ten item wardrobe but I am honing in on my personal style and it’s been so much fun. I am certainly benefiting from the smaller closet!!!

Like I said, these are just a few, but mostly importantly, I enjoy caring for my home each day and the results have been a breath of fresh air. Thank you for all you do and I genuinely hope that one day you will go on tour again and I will get to meet you to thank you personally for the positive impact you have had in my life! I’m excited about your e-course coming out next week and your book this July!!

Sincerely,
Nicole"

Cleaning Floors with Just Water? | E-Cloth Mop | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:25 AM 5 Comments

Ever since I reviewed the e-cloth, clean with just water, microfiber cloths back in December, I have had many of you ask me to try out the mop. On today's Natural Home with Jennifer, I clean the dirtiest area of our home... the area where our 2-year-old enjoys his meals :)

Here are the benefits that I see to using the e-cloth mop:

🌿 You are not using any harsh chemicals on your floors because you are cleaning with just water.

🌿 You are still getting rid of 99% of bacteria on the floor, so it's a great option for people who have crawling babies or toddlers.

🌿 You are saving money on floor cleaner since you are using only water.

We have a very large floorspace in our home. That is a high-quality problem! Although it is a lot of work when I mop the floors (my kids help me too, they actually like to mop). I have been using the Method Almond floor cleaner, but I have been using so much that I've been spending a lot of money on the product. Going forward, I will mop with just water and use the Method twice a month to polish the floors. I think that is a nice balance.

This is the European Deep Clean Mop that I use in the video. The e-cloth mop head sells for $13.99. You could also get them in a bundle pack. Please note: I know a lot of you have the microfiber mop from Amazon that I have mentioned in the past. These mop heads fit that mop as well.

Here are the particulars from the e-cloth website:

The Deep Clean Mop removes grease, dirt and over 99% of bacteria from all types of hard flooring, using just water. Made from lightweight aluminum with telescopic handle (extendable 3ft to 5ft).

Made from durable, lightweight aluminum with height adjustable handle - extends from 3ft to 5ft
The Mop Head's special weave breaks up and holds grease and dirt, which ordinary mops leave behind
Cleans using just water, no chemicals - the power is in the fibers
Removes over 99% of bacteria. 3 Year guarantee

I always like to check in with the company to see if they can give you a discount. E-Cloth have given The Daily Connoisseur audience a discount! Use code SPRINGSCOTT for 15% off your order (valid only from March 9 - March 15, 2019).

Please note that the mop head I am holding in today's video is clean, just out of the laundry. I realize the way I edited the video, you might think it was the one I just used to clean the floor. Not so :)

Thank you for watching today's video.

I hope you are enjoying this Natural Home with Jennifer series. If you are seeing improvements in your home, cleaning routine, health and more from switching to more natural products, please let us know! Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you soon!

Rebound with Me | 5-minute Rebounding Routine | March 2019

10:44 AM 3 Comments

Hello Daily Connoisseurs,

I hope you are having a lovely week! Here is our rebounding video for March. I enjoyed hearing from you as you jumped to February's video. I jumped almost every evening. Ben thought I was crazy jumping to my own video, but I really enjoy the motivating music and familiar routine. After a few days you really memorize it.

Many of you sent me pictures of you jumping along. Some of you even showed me videos of your children jumping! My children jumped to it too. They clearly think it's the coolest thing ever to jump with their mom on the TV :)

If you jump on the rebounder regularly, please let us know in the comments if you see an improvement in your health. The biggest benefit for me is the reduction in stress I have. Whenever I feel stressed throughout the day, I jump for a few minutes. It always helps.

The rebounder we use is by Needak.

I shot this video in our family room this time. The floral arrangement behind me is by Horchow. The candle I'm burning is Pacific Northwest by Cellar Door Candles (I'll be doing a natural candle review next week!)

Send me your rebounding pics online with the hashtag #dailyconnoisseur or #jenniferlscott I look forward to jumping with you!

See you tomorrow for a bonus Natural Home with Jennifer.

Love,

Jennifer

Answering Your Instagram Questions | Teatime with Jennifer

6:20 AM 6 Comments

I recently asked for your Teatime requests on Instagram and received so many varied requests, that I decided to answer them all (or almost all of them).

I was under the weather when I shot this video, so please accept my apologies. We chat about everything from how I buy the art for my home, to how to deal with children who talk back, to advice for college kids, to ideas for hostess gifts, to how to deal with children and screen time . I answer so many questions in today's video!

I promised to link many of the things I discussed in the video so I will link them all here:

📍Jose Trujillo has wonderful and affordable paintings on eBay. I also have bought antique paintings from Califauctions, Cathedral Fine Art, DelphiFineArt, and Unusual Finds

📍Laurie from Pride in Photos Beauty's channel This is in reference to the question on grey hair.

📍My Amazon store is where I link my favorite books as well as the baby items I actually use (plus so much more)

📍The necklace I'm wearing is by Ana Luisa NY (code Jennifer10 gives $10 off), The nail polish I'm wearing is Londontown Lemonade Pop (use code JenniferS for 25% off)

📍The flower arrangement is by Horchow and the candle I'm burning is Tokyo Citrus by Cellar Door Candles

📍My debt-free eCourse is linked here. On Monday I'm debuting my new eCourse. I'm so excited to share it with you!

📍Skillshare is the online learning resource where you can choose from over 25,000 classes to learn a new skill. If you have a skill, you could be a teacher on skillshare and earn an income from your class. It's a great resource, especially for those of us who like to stay sharp and refuse to be dumbed down :)

I hope you enjoyed today's video.

Knygose autorė pasakoja, kaip mėgautis kasdienybe ir nenuobodžiauti netgi atliekant ir akivaizdžiai žemiškas užduotis! Comment of the Week
AnnaJH writes, Jennifer, I enjoy your chic assignments so much! I haven't read a non fiction book since October because I have felt too busy (but for some reason I have had time for my phone), but I decided to follow the chic assignments and now I read every day again! I rather have my children seeing me read a book than holding my phone.
For this months assignment I especially like the Monet assignment. There is a lovely childrens book called "Linnea in Monet's garden" by Christina Bjork. I will read it again with my children and enjoy the story and the paintings together them!

Thank you, Anna! I'm enjoying The Chic Assignments so much. I am so excited that they have inspired you to read more. The Monet book looks wonderful, I will have to check that out.

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed this Teatime with Jennifer. I would love to hear your comments on all of the topics discussed. I'll see you tomorrow for my rebound with me video for March!

Love,

Jennifer

The Chic Assignment March 2019

6:22 AM 22 Comments

Welcome to The Chic Assignment for March! February's assignment was great success. So many of you participated and checked-in with your findings. I really enjoyed reading your book recommendations and your observations on the music too! We are going to continue now for March and I'm excited to see where these assignments take us.

We are going to focus on cultivating our minds, seeking out the arts, being efficient, and refining our ten-item wardrobes. So without further ado, here are the assignments:

🎵 Chic Assignment no. 1 Listen to Chopin Nocturne in E flat major Op. 9 No. 2 Chopin is my favorite composer and this is my favorite classical piece! I am linking a YouTube video by pianist Valentina Lisitsa that you can listen to for free. I am also linking a wonderful Chopin album that includes the nocturne and is worth owning if you are a Chopin fan.

This piece is shorter at around 4 minutes. I'd love for you to listen to it with a cup of tea. If you watched my Tasha Tudor video, you will remember that Tasha recommended sitting down with a cup of tea each afternoon to combat stress. This would be the perfect piece to play in the background. You could look at a book while you sip and listen, or you can chat with a friend, or you could just blissfully listen. It's up to you! Try to do this at least once a week.

🧺 Chic Assignment no. 2 Make your laundry routine more pleasurable

I have left this assignment vague on purpose because I am excited to see what you come up with! I'd like for you to make your laundry routine more pleasurable this month. Whether you sip a cup of tea or iced coffee while folding, or listen to a new audiobook or podcast, how can you make the usually dreaded laundry task more enjoyable? Other ideas include sprucing up your laundry room or dedicating a specific space in your home to doing laundry. Let us know how you improve your routine and your idea could spark inspiration in someone else.

🖼 Chic Assignment no. 3 Study the works of Claude Monet

We are going to seek out the arts and cultivate our minds with the works of French impressionistic painter, Claude Monet. You are all familiar with his iconic paintings, and this month we are going to study them and chose our personal favorites. Even if you are not a fan of impressionism, I'd love for you to take part in this assignment. I am linking a free website where you can look at many of his most popular works. Have a look at them and choose your favorite painting. Report back to let us know which one you like the best and why. When I do my check-in in two weeks, I'll share my favorite with you.

👗 Chic Assignment no. 4 Prepare your ten-item wardrobe for the seasonal transition

Most of us are getting ready to transition into spring (my Southern Hemisphere friends are transitioning seasons too, just the opposite way!). It's time to prepare your ten-item wardrobe. This will vary depending on where you live and the forecasted weather. If you are transitioning from winter to spring, you will be storing away all seasonal items such as heavy coats, snow gear, heavy sweaters, and scarves, for example. Start to bring out your spring items and prepare them for your closet by pressing or steaming them, trying them on to see if they still fit, and hanging them up in your wardrobe. If winter doesn't look like it's going away any time soon, you can simply prepare your spring ten-item wardrobe list. What will be returning and what will you need to purchase to fill in any gaps in your wardrobe? Please comment below on this video or the check-in to let us know how your wardrobe is coming along.

Even though I have not assigned a book for this month, we will continue to read at least one book, or listen to an audio book each month. That will always be a given. I have enjoyed so many of your recommendations so feel free to post what you're reading so you can give us ideas.

Share your findings with us on social media using the hashtags #thechicassignment and #dailyconnoisseur

I hope you enjoy today's video.

Comment of the Week
On last week's The Private World of Tasha Tudor video, Toni W. writes, "I too am a Tasha Tudor fan and have been for many years. I teach preschool and have read many of her books to many classes. I especially enjoy her illustrations of Corgi’s. Whatever it is that you love, share your passion with your children through books. They will pick up on your enthusiasm which makes learning more enjoyable. By the way, at the end of each year, I bring our pet Corgi named Albert into the classroom for the children to meet. It’s a page out of a book which comes to life! Magic!!"

Hi Toni, I loved your comment. I bet the children had such a great surprise when you brought your corgi to visit them. I agree with your recommendation on teaching through books. Thank you for commenting!

I look forward to hearing your progress on The Chic March Assignment. I'll see you next time!

FabFitFun Spring 2019 Unboxing | Jennifer L. Scott

6:53 AM 2 Comments

Hello ladies,

I hope you're having a lovely weekend! I am coming to you on a very rainy Saturday! I have partnered with FabFitFun for today's video where I unbox their spring 2019 subscription box.

FabFitFun is a seasonal subscription box with full-size products that arrives four times a year: spring, summer, fall, and winter. The box is customizable (you can customize two things in the box and premium subscribers can customize everything). I customized this box with the beautiful floral robe from Show Me Your MuMu and the aviator sunglasses.

Watch today's video to see the rest of the items. I found the items in the box to be well-curated and high-quality. The value of the box is also great. The box sells for $49.99 (although with my code TDC, you get $10 off your first box). The products inside the box retail at much higher prices individually and the value of the box is always over $200 (even though you only pay $49.99). For example, the robe retails at $80 and the sunglasses at over $60 alone.

This box would make a lovely gift for yourself but also for anyone you know who is going "through the trenches": new moms, busy students, or busy working professionals would all especially appreciate such a gift.

Check out my fun unboxing video to see more. If you order, don't forget to use my code TDC for $10 off your first box.

I hope you enjoy today's video. I'll see you on Monday for The Chic Assignment for March!

Shampoo and Conditioner Bar Review | The Sudsy Soapery | Natural Home with Jennifer

6:04 AM 7 Comments

I have to say, I was completely taken aback by this investigative review. Ever since I started my Natural Home with Jennifer series, you have been urging me to try shampoo and conditioner bars. I didn't jump at the request because I thought, "how good could those possibly be?" I imagined washing my hair with a bar of soap and coming out of the shower with brittle, coarse hair.

Well, I finally decided to try them and I was completely astonished at the results. Not only did they clean my hair well, but they actually nourished it, conditioned it, and made it softer. I film this before and after at the end of a long, rainy day when I looked like something the cat dragged in. Yikes! But wait until you see the "after".

The lovely bars I am using are from The Sudsy Soapery. They contacted me to to see if I'd like to try any of their products. I noticed they did shampoo and conditioner bars so I requested those. Not only did they send the bars, but they also sent me a lovely care package full of candles, soaps, and natural deodorant! I will have to do another review of all of their other lovely products.

Check out all of their shampoo bars here and their conditioner bars here.

Here is what they have to say about their Calendula shampoo bar:
Our hair shampoo bar is meant for normal hair and leaves your hair feeling conditioned, soft and manageable. This bar is a great alternative to sulfate and chemical ridden shampoo that leaves your scalp and hair dry and frizzy.

Here is what they say about their conditioner bar:
Our after shampoo solid hair conditioner bar is packed full with all natural ingredients to make your hair look and feel great. We have chosen some of the very finest hair conditioning butters like Jojoba and Hemp Seed to enhance the conditioning experience. As part of our ongoing dedication to hair health we have decided to complete the hair bar experience with adding some great aids like Lemon Shine and Split end fortifiers to make your hair conditioning a natural and amazing experience!

I have used these for a few weeks and have also worn my hair curly a few times since then. These bars cultivate beautiful curls! My daughters use them too and I am amazed at how tangle-free and beautifully textured their hair is after using them. I can't recommend them enough!

The Sudsy Soapery are a small business run by a husband and wife team. They are the loveliest people and their products are handmade and totally natural.

While the prices are cheaper on their own website, some people like to be able to buy on Amazon so I am also linking them here: shampoo bar on Amazon and conditioner bar on Amazon

Sudsy Soapery's promise

🌿 NO SYNTHETICS EVER-

🌿 100% Natural Products

🌿 Sulfate-Free

🌿 Free of Synthetic Fragrance

🌿 No Fillers

🌿 No Synthetic Color or Dyes

🌿 Purposeful Ingredients

I hope you enjoy my review in today's video. I would love to know... have you ever tried shampoo and conditioner bars? What has been your experience?

Thanks for joining me today. I'll see you tomorrow (Saturday) for a fun girly video unboxing the FabFitFun spring box. See you then!
